Library Notes.
The circulation for August was l
the second largest in the history of
the libraary 314 volumes being is-
sued for home use.
Comparatively little reference
work was done during the summer
months. With the beginning of
school and club work this function
of the library will become more ac-
tive. Seekers after knowledge are
always welcome. "When in doubt
consult the Sims Library."
Many people are not aware that
the library loans pictures a3 well as
books. If you wish to see the por-
trait of some noted person or the
copy of some famous painting in-
quire at the library. Our collection
of pictures Is small as yet but we
may have what you want.
There are a number of weekly and
monthly magazines at the Sims Li-
brary which will be given away to
any one In town or county who will
come for them. These journals cort>-
tain a variety of good reading mat-
ter which will be Interesting to
many invalids book lovers and fami-

at the library by persons who pre-
fer rather to "pass them along" than
to destroy them thue making the
library a clearing house for periodi-

of the Father."
New York Sept. 7.—-A company οΓ
players yesterday enjoyed the un-
usual experience of forming the
first audience for a drama in \yhich
they will tour later. For this oc-
casion Thomas Dixon the well
known playwright and novelist as-
sumed all the roles serious and com-
ic of his race problem play "The
Sins of the Father." The reading
occupied two hours and a half and
the denouement was marked by long
burst of applause from hearers who
had followed Mr. Dixon's serious in-
terpretations with intense interest
and had laughed as heartily and
joyously as any real audience at the
screamingly funny scenes between
the comic negro characters. The
same afternoon the players took up
the work of rehersal and they will
all be perfect in (heir roles when
"The Sins of the Father" opens in
