night Monday night swept the busi-
ness district of the. north end and
burned to ashes the stocks and build-
ings of fourteen business blocks. All
the buildings for a block on each side
of the street were entirely consumed
with their contents entailing a loss of

covered by insurance.

pose of lynching Lee in case he was
Identifed. made efforts to get the ne-
gro away from he authorities during
