■Moody's Birthday.
Northfield Mass. Feb. 5.— Seven-
ty-two years ago today Dwight L.
Moody the most famous evangelist
of tlie last Century was born in this
city and the anniversary was fit-
tingh observed by the men and
woilien who have taken up his bur-
den and successfully carried on the
great religious educational institu-
tions he established here. It has been
nearly a decade since Moody passed
away but his spirit like John
Brown's "goes marching on" To-
day's anniversary of the great evan-
gelist's birth finds his successors
beginning a movement for the wide
extension of the sphere of useful-
ness of the institutions which were
Moody's hope and pride.

The readers of tills paper will he
pleased to learn that there is at
least one dreaded disease that
science has been able to cure in all
its stages and that is Catarrh. Hall's
Catarrh Cure is the only positive
cure now known to the medical fra-
ternity. Catarrh being a constitution-
al disease requires a constitutional
treatment. Hall's Catarrh Cure is
taken internally acting directly upon
the blood and mucous surfaces of the
system thereby destroying the foun-
dation of the disease and giving the
! patient strength by building up the
constitution and assisting nature in
doing its work. The proprietors have
so much faih in its curative powers
that they offer One Hundred Dol-
lars for any case that it fails to cure.
Send for list of testimonials.

Negro Huns from Officer.
Deputy Sheriff Hickman had a
Ih'-ly chase after a negro late
Thursday afternoon. Hosnian Richie
was arrested at the depot on six al-
leged charges of gaining. While pass-
ing the sheriff's barn at the corner
of College and Water streets the ne-
gro made a dash for liberty. As he
crossed the street and entered an al-
ley he was shot at three times by
the officer but this only served to
accelerate his speed. He made a bee
line for a lumber yard wh< e he
managed to elude the officer and es-
ca pe.
Foley's Honey and Tar clears the
air passages stops the irritation in
the throat soothes the inflamed
membranes and the most obstinate
rough disappears. Sore and inflamed
lungs are healed and strengthened
and the cold is expelled from the
system. Refuse any but the genuine
in the yellow package. B. W. Fear-

Sl'NFLOWKR SERMON'S.
(Atchisou Globe.)
The candidates who do not get
office become harsh critics.
Some men who are supposed to I
work have mighty little to do.
The fools are not all depd yet. and j
what is more they never will be.
Everyone feels privileged to steal
an apple from a farmer's wagon.
Of what avail if a man works to
save hie country and ruins himself?
Nearly every man says of his dog:
"His father cost a thousand dollars."
Worthless people are terribly
catlike in always landing on their
feet.
Most people eat as though they
were fattening themselves for mar-
ket.
We never knew a woman or a boy
who wouldn't run a mile to |?e a
Are.
Half the medicine a man takes is
for what the doctors can't cure: old
age.
We heard it remarked today that
carelessness is the first step toward
stealing.
A woman changes everything
about her husband from his habits
to his middle name.
It is all right to vote for the
country's prosperity but you must
work for your own.
People are becoming so quarrel-
some ι hat bull dogs are lately more
popular than ever before.
One of ihe surprising things of
this worldd is the respect a worth-
less man lias for himself.
The Baptist Revival.
Another large crowd attended the
meeting r.t the Baptist church lasl
night and taxed the main auditorium
to the utmost. There was a very
large attendance of the boys and
girls and Mr. Jolly had them sing
"Glory" several times and aroused
a great deal of enthusiasm in the
congregation. Just before the sermon
he sang 'The Best Friend to Have
is Jesus" and prepared the hearts of
the people for the message to fol-
low.
Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock
there will be a service for young
people led by Mr. Jolly. There will
be no services Saturday night.
