WORMS AND WEEVILS
Speciil Agent Proctor Reports Them
Namerous Aboet Emis
The En oie Weekly Local of today
has the following concerning the
work of the boll worms and boll
weevils on the farms near Ennls:
'•The cotton prospects has seemed
exceedingly flattering heretefore
and the casual observer has b'-en led
to believe that the crop is not suf-
fering serious ravage but upon
more careful observation it is bung
found that the worms are doing vast
damage to the crop.
"Mr VV. F. Procter special govern-
! ment agent in charge of the farm-
ers co-operative Cotton Demonstra-
tion work under Col. Knapp spent
last Thursday in >»nd about En nie
and his discoveries are calculated to
bring disappointment to a hopeful
people. He went out to the Story
experimental farm and carefully
examined the cotton. There he

Allison's demonstration farm and
to Mr. Allison's surprise iound the
boll worm β working utter destruc-
tion to the cotton.
" i'he general appearance of the
cotton indicates it is in tine condi-
tion but when the boll is examined
it i» found that the worm bas bored
in under the shuck and the large j
boll# weighing more than an ounce;

" I here are no weevils in Mr. Alii- >
eon's cotton. Mr. .Proctor visi.td1
this f irui eight days ago and now
upon t. is visit he finds that crop I
hue lost at least ϋύ per cent from its
condition as noted then.

aging report and as farmers come

than a tenth of a bale pel acre un-

crops he said would make from a
