iiy an order of the county com-
missioners. which was passed Friday
afternoon the terms of the county
court have been increased from six
to nearly eleven weeks. In the fu-
ture this department of justice will
be In session about nine months In
the year with a vacation of about
twenty days Intervening. This ac-
tion was not taken because of an
increase in the business of the court
but because of a recent decision of
the higher court that a plea of guilty
could not be accepted in vacation.

George T. Porter general agent
for the railroad at Brownsville tes-
tified that he heard shooting a short
distance from Ills house and remark-
ed to his wife at the time that "the
negroes are out." He said that the
3ound of the gulis unquestionably
came from the arms used b> the
army. He saw people picking up
empty shells next morning at the
point from which the firing seemed
to prcceed. Cross-examination was
