Coast Artilleiy One Of
Fo|ur Such Army Units
In The United States
The 69|th Coast Artillery, anti-aircraft regiment to be
seen in a thrilling demonstration here on the night of No-
vember 11th, is one of four such regiments in the continental
United Sta les and the only Regular Army unit of its kind sta-
tioned in the South.
As the name implies, its primary tactical mission is de-
fense against attacks from the air. This defense is made from
the ground in cooperation with friendly air forces. Its fighting
equipment consists of 3-inch guns, .50 caliber machine guns,
.and 60 inch seachlights. This
[armament is supplemented by rnAIIlR I ipTrimn

development. The regiment is,
: completely motorized, enabl-

on short notice. With the ex

equipment was received
in 1985.
