passed away, after weeka of
illness from typhiod fever and
heart trouble; hope* of his re-
covery were dispared of sev-
eral weeks ago,
Mr. Morrison was a member
of the Carthage Mercantile Co,
Hi* early life was spent on the
farm home, seven mile* west
of Carthage, the last few year*
he and Mr*, Morrison have re-
sided in our city,
Friday, September 6th, at 11
a. m., the remains were laid to
rest In the Snap Cemetery, be-
side those of his father and
mother, Mr. Morrison was
about 45 years old. He is sur-
vived by his wife, to whom the
Watchman offers true sympa-
thy} also two brothers, J, C,
Morrison, of Cushing, and Hugh
Morrison of Kaufman county,
and three sisters, Misses Annie
and Nellie Morrison, of Dallas,
and Mr*. Edna Jordan of Shel-
by county, and three half
brothers, S. A. Hawthorn of our
and J, H. and Will Haw-
of Timpson, and two half
that I have been much slower
in writing to you and other
friends than I should have been,
I will not be able to write to
anything like all of them, but I
am very grateful to all,
I especially appreciate your
friendship during the campaign
and your great generosity in
using a large amount of space
in the Watchman for my ben-
eflt. Will you accept my most
hearty thanks?
Please tell all friends that I
am grateful for their help and
that they and all the people of
the district shall have the best
service of which l am capable.

The Book Club ladies have
originated the Idea of a "Pa-
triotic Pageant," to be held
next Thursday. That night
o play will ba given at the
School Auditorium. Just whst
the "Pageant" will consist of
we are unable to say, but since
the Hook Club ladies never do
things by halves, we feel sure
that all who miss either the
"Pageant" or the play that
night will regret having done
so the next day.

The importance of fall plow-
ing and the sowing of wheat
and planting other fall crops
for horns use will be emphasiz-
ed, The conservation of foods

will be given to the harvesting,
threshing and marketing of the
peanut crop,

DALLAS MAY HAVE FAIR.
Austin, Texas, September 6.
—If Camp Dipk la still located
on the state fair grounds next
fall efforts will be made to
make arrangements with the
government to hold the state
fair anyway, providing satis-
factory arrangements can be
made. This developed at a re-
cent meeting of the State Coun-
cil of Defense held in this city.
The Council adopted a reso-
lution to take up with the gov-
ernment the matter of holding
the fair in conjunction with
Camp Dick with tha hopes of
working out some satisfactory
arrangements.
