Acting strictly upon my own
initiative, and jwith no special
interests or institutions behind
me, I entered this race. If I
am elected to the office, I as-
sure you I will go into it with
hands untied and under mort-
gage to no one.
I believe in rotation in office,
and in the justness of my cause.
I have done everything hu-
manly possible to win this of-
fice by honorable means and
fair dealings with my fellow-
citizens, and I trust that the
people of Panola county will
yev/arj my efforts on July 27.
In closing my campaign I
desire to say to the people,
both men and women, ini all
pai uf the county that I'am
pet unappreciative of the many
conr osips they have extended
to and whether elected or
not f .’hail ever retain a kind

pany interests, as well as other
corporation lawyers of smaller
bore, are opposing me. If the
public don't know WHY, I'll
not tell it now. Nevertheless,
I know.
Two years ago, l was defeat-
ed by eleventh hour misrepre-
sentations and now I offer, in
advance, as a shield ageinst all
poisoned arrows, the clerk's
certified indorsement of me in
1016 by more than 88 1-8 par
cent of the male voters of the
county where I have lived for
more than aixty years, as wtll
as the other beautiful tributes,
including the letter from the
late Judge U B. Hightower,
which have been given the
public,1 and I feel secure in the
judgment of the great ma-
jority, who seeing the same,
want an honest and espnble
Judge.
May the Lord have mercy on
the souls of thoas who would
bear false witness afifclft ms
or otherwise contribute to my
being trsated wrong.
