At Miami, Ha., there extota a size-
able colony of political refugees,
where, according to Cuban govern-

hatched far an attempt to over-
throw Machado.
Ex-President Menocal and his son
are members of this colony as are
many of the leaders who partici-

in 1931. According to storiefc eman-

Dr. Orestes Ferrara, is designed to
keep the details x>t Machado’s reign
of terror from seeping outside the
country. . |
| The government’s information re-
garding the expected revolt is that
a vanguard of 150 revolutionaries
would land in Cuba, probably in
Oriente Province, from Mexico or
Honduras, and provide the signal
lor the general uprising all over the
country. Cubans in Florida, al-
though keeping a close mouth re-
garding their plans, recently ad-
mitted that a number of exiles
would shortly leave for the home-
land. but denied, for obvious rea-

Or a trouble is what you make it;
It’s not the fact that you're hurt

But pniy, how did you take it?
You are beaten to earth; well!
what of that?
Get up with a smiling face;
It’s nothing, against you to fall
down flat;
To Me there, that’s disgrace.
The harder you fall, the higher you
bounce;
Be proud of a blackened eye;
It’s not the fact that you’re whip-

But how did you fight, and why?
You are done to the death; wet!
what then?
If you’ve done the best you could
If you've played your part in the

President Machado was inaugurat-
ed In 1925* for a term of four years.
In 1928 he was re-elected unopposed
for a second term, but when he as-
sumed office he altered the coun-
try’s constitution , increasing the
length of his term by two years
more. As this second term of .six
years began In May, 1929,, President
Machado's tenure of office will not
expire until 1935.
The President’s political oppo-
nents, who strenuously opposed his
action in increasing the length of
the Presidential term, are unwilling
to wait until Machado’s term ex-
pires. and it is believed that the
next month will see Cuba in the
throes of a revolution which will
make previous uprisings look like a

HELL J i ’'I
Just what is meant by this word
“hell?”
They say sometimes, “It’s cold os

Sometimes they say, :’Tt's hot a

When it rains1 “it’s hell’^ they cry.
It’s also hell when It’s dry.
They “hate like hell’ ’to see It snow
It’s a - “hell of a wind” when it
starts to blow,
Now “how in hell” can anyone tell
“What In hell” they mean by this

This married life is “fiell” they say

It’s “hell" when the Ijid you have

It’s “hell” when the doctor sends

For a “hell of a lot” of trips and

When you get this you know real

Just what is meant, by this word
“hell.”
rHell, yes.f "heBpbof’ apd “Oh

And “what in hell” ahd “the hell

Now “who in hell” a»d “Oh hell
