Registrar Outlines
tSfbps have been outlined to guide
t students in fulfilling requirements
for degrees; these steps will ap-
pear in the new TLC catalog for-
1966-67. They should be of special
interest to all students who are
presently second semester juniors.
A student planning to graduate
from Texas Lutheran College
should make a definite commitment
to a course of study at the end of
the sophomore year and prior to
the beginning of the junior year.
Thjs involves (1) Completing and
having approved by the relevant de-
partment head a major and minor
approval form, and (2) completing
and having approved by the major
advisor, the head of the depart-
ment, and the college dean, a de-
e plan. The . major and minor
"Oval form and one copy of the
egree plan must be filed with the
Registrar. A copy of the degree plan
is also filed with the major advisor
and the head of the Education De-
partment (if in the field of educa-
tive).
To apply for a Bachelor’s De-
gree, the applicant must request a
Degree Statement through the
Registrar’s Office before March 15
of his junior year. This consists, in
part, of a copy of the student’s
woffi, and a degree statement form.
The. student’s progress is reviewed
by the Registrar and the major
advisor, a summary sheet is pre-
pared by the advisor, and the stu-
dent is informed of the requirements
not yet fulfilled.
K
Formal application for degrees
must be submitted to the Registrar,
on provided forms, not later than
90 days prior to the end of the
semester, or 20 days prior to the
end of the summer term, in which
t^e**student expects to complete his
requirements for graduation.
The student must understand that
he (1) is responsible for fulfilling
the degree requirements for a
pg^ticular degree as outlined in one
catalogue under which he is entitled
"o graduate, and (2) to register in
ccordance therewith. IT REMAINS
HE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
-STUDENT TO FULFILL ALL DE-

Homecoming
Make Initial 7966 Plans
At a recent meeting to evaluate
Homecoming activities, members
present considered several changes
in the Homecoming program next
year.
Committee members agreed un-
animously that the primary func-
tion of Homecoming is to act as a
“thoroughfare” between present
and former students. Accompanying
the function should be an involve-
ment of the entire campus com-
munity, which includes not only
students but also the faculty and
administration; and accompanying
this shared involvement is shared
responsibility.
A prospective date set for the
next homecoming is November 5,
1966. This date is rather close to
nine-weeks test; however, it was
decided that academic pressure is
always present at TLC and there-
fore should not be a determining
factor.
Also considered was a time for
the Homecoming game. In all
probability the game will be set
for 7:30 p.m., November 5th.
The committee discussed the sub-
ject of student participation in
which there was unanimous agree-
ment that student involvement
should be limited to the coronation,
displays, and bonfire, not such
things as the regulation of parking.
Of significance to freshmen — in
relation to student involvement—is
the ruling that, for next year, build-
ing the bonfire will be limited to
one and a half days.
Further agreement was to the
effect that there would be a faculty
sponsor for Homecoming who, per-
haps, would accept the responsibil-
ity of helping to limit the cost of
dresses worn in the coronation
ceremony.
Other suggestions were that cam-
pus organizations submit their dis-
play themes to the Dean of Students
for approval comparatively earlier
than they did last year and that
the displays be located near
parking areas in order to be easily
reached by car.
Accordingly, because parking on
campus is a problem at major
events (which includes Homecom-
ing) the committee agreed to have
the Administrative Council alerted
to the situation and that an effort
be made to mitigate the parking
dilemma.
