As usual, the Sports Editor of the LSL has once again proved
himself the world’s worst football predictor. While everyone else came
through with a fine 70 per cent guessing average last week, Blood-
worth managed only five for ten.
His average has now dropped to a paltry .540 ,a pretty poor
average when you consider that at least two-thirds of the favored
teams should win most of the time.
The persons chosen to try their luck this week are all connected
With the news media in some way. They are Ronnie Ahlhom, sports
editor of the Seguin Gazette, Kermit Westerholm of TLC’s public
relations staff, Peggy Woelfel, editor of the LSL, and Bloodworth.

Bulldogs Finally Back Home
The TLC Bulldogs opened then’
1963 football season with a 14-7
victory over the Youngstown Uni-
versity Penquins in Ohio-land.
The victory raised hopes for a
winning season at TLC. Billy Nel-
son turned out to be the deciding
factor in the contest as he inter-
cepted a Penquin pass and return-
ed. it 65 yards to score. The play
occurred with 56 seconds remain-
ing on the clock.
Following the opening encoun-
ter, the ’Dogs ran into extensive
difficulty as they lost their next
three games. The first of these
games was a 21-8 loss to the
Southwest Texas State Bobcats.
Sparked by the hard-driving Rex
Turner, the ’Cats broke the game
open in the second half.
The second game was a narrow
humiliating defeats in recent
years. The Texans, a team which
had managed to win but twi
games in two years, rocked the
Bulldogs with 31 points in the sec-
ond half. The defeat was not con-

came on short jaunt by Billy

The first of two successive
jaunts to New Mexico returned
the Bulldogs to winning ways as
they downed New Mexico High-
lands University 8-7. A 40-yard
field goal by Henry Krause proved
to be the deciding factor in this
contest. This contest was marred
by extensive penalties against the
Bulldogs. The ’Dogs were penal-
ized 15 times for 122 yards. Oddly
enough, the Cowboys did not re-
ceive one penalty.
On numerous occasions the
! ’Dogs crossed the NMHU 30
| yard line only to be set back.
The following week the Bulldogs
i returned to the Land of Enchant-
! ment for a clash with Eastern New
I Mexico University. The trip proved
! to be anything but enchanting as
! the Greyhounds walked off with
| a 34-7 victory. Pete Jacquess
proved to be too much for TLC
as he crossed the double stripe 3
times.
As the Bulldogs, after five
games away, enter the Homecom-
j ing clash with the University of
| Corpus Christi, they stand 2-4 in
the won-loss column. The return
to Matador Stadium and the ex-
pected large Homecoming crowd
should prove as some impetus to-
ward a Bulldog victory.
