we praise the Bulldogs for playing,
well under such conditions, but
we might also compare this with
our situation in Memorial Gym.
True, the gym at St. Ed’s is
much smaller, to say the least, but
it was absolutely packed. People
were jammed around the edges,
St. Ed’s game was 77-73.
The ’Dogs jumped off to a quick
seven point lead in the first three
minutes of the game, but the Hill-
toppers came roaring back to tie
the game at ten points apiece
with six minutes gone.

though, the Bulldogs were off and
running. About halfway through
the second half, the ’Dogs led by
a margin of 14 points:

there was a considerable amount.
Schlender paced the Bulldogs
with 28 points, 22 of which came
in the second half. Schlender was

And they had cheerleaders and

unusual for him. His superb ball
handling and coordination is
amazing, nonetheless.

male variety, but they were there.
Their band was pretty lousy, too,
but it was there.
School spirit at TLC seems to be
a very undeveloped thing. The
reason for this is not quite an-
parent, either. The cheerleaders

Five at Home
Next week the Bulldogs will
return to the friendly confines of
Memorial Gym for a five game
homestand.
The homestand begins Satur-
day night aginst the University of
Corpus Christi. The Tarpons will
be out to avenge the two defeats
suffered at the hands of the Bull-
dogs last season.

Billy Jorgenson, also a freshman,,
netted 12 points, all in the Ijii-st
half. Guard Jorgenson sat the
j rest of the game out due to the
j accumulation of four fouls. New-
j ton Grimes had eight points for

teams in the entire South. The
Bulldogs will be facing the Tigers
for the first time in several sea-
sons.

absolutely wild if a TLC athleti
team wins. Overall, though, it
seems pretty poor.
This trend is apparent not only
in sports. How many students reai-
ly felt impressed when the band
played at the state fair? Maybe
we are a bit too sophisticated to
care about such a childish thing
as school spirit.
This business about lack of
spirit is not a lot of hogwash
On Wednesday a newcomer to

Kentucky will appear. As of the
moment not much information is

On Friday night the Bulldogs
will get the chance to avenge one
of those one point losses as they
host the Texas A&I Javelinas. In
the season opener in Kingsville,
the Javelinas escaped with a nar-
row 81-80 victory in overtime. As
of the moment A&I stands 4-0 for
the season. But the Bulldogs
should be ready for this one.
Little All-American Phil Shirk
and his gang had better be ready
also.
Following the holidays the Bull-
dogs wil close out the homestand
on January 4 against Texas Wes-
leyan. Last season Texas Wesley-

near the top again this year.
On January 6 the ’Dogs will

On November 23 the Texas
Lutheran College judo team travel-
ed to Wichita Falls, Texas to take
part in the first major tourna-
ment of the fall season. TLC
entered five players in three
weight classes leaving only the
unlimited division without any of
our players. Competing for the
first time were Pete Phucas and
“Red” Boyd in the 140 pound
class, Sandy Guillaudeau in the
losing 2.
This Saturday the team will go
to Corpus Christi to attend a

the local YMCA. The chances for
a team victory appear to "be ex-
