The Bulldogs of TLC scored on
their first series of plays, but the
charm didn’t hold as the ’Dogs
went down to a 15-7 defeat at ths
hands of the McMurry Indians Of
Abilene this week.
This was the year’s first home
game for the Lutherans, and they
showed exceptionally well even in
defeat.
The Bulldogs’ first score came
only a few minutes deep in the
first quarter via a 17-yard pass
from quarterback Miffy Kaase to
Robert Johnson. Kaase converted
to make the score 7 to 0.
In the second quarter, however,
the Indians capitalized on the
first of their five interceptions,
with Fred Austen going over from
the 1-yard line. McMurry failed
on their try for point, tkid the
score remained 7 to 6, TLC.
Neither team could dent the
scoring column again until Hie
■fourth quarter* when McMurry
scored nine points to take the ball
game.
The first of the nine points c-ame
as a result of a “freak” field goal
by Doug Tames. The kick traveled
20 yards, hit the cross bar and
bounced over to put the Indians
in the lead 9 to 7. Then Brady in-
tercepted a pass and returned it

Mify Kaase still leads all Bull-
dogs in total offense with 204
yards, 162 of these as a result of
his passing. The “Schulenburg
Slinger” emerged after last week’s
San Marcos tilt as the nation’s
leading passer with an outstand-
ing .750 completion percentage.
His two game total shows that
Kaase has completed 13 aerials
in 24 attempts—a .542 percentage
—and that his passes have ac-
counted for three Bulldog touch-
downs and one extra point,
Billy Russel, the slender soph-
omore from Dallas, leads the
team in rushing with 126 yards in
26 carries. That’s an average of
4.8 per carry! Hustling Frank Ar-
nold has picked up 85 yards in 25
trips across scrimmage, for an
average of 3.4 yards per carry.
Kaase leads the Bulldog eleven
in the punting department with
six punts for 226 yards and 37.7
average. Second in line is Russel,
who owns a 53 yard average from
70 yards on two punts.
Robert Johnson, scrappy right

receiving with five receptions and

points. He is closely followed by
