farms, Beverly Hills, Long Beach.
Los Angeles County Fair, and San
Gabriel Canyon.
Mr. Downing met Mrs. Down-
ing in San Antonio and drove
home by way of his ranch where
chey stopped long enought for him
to kill a fine eight point deer.
Mr. and Mrs. Noa B. Sisk attend-
ed the 15th Legion Convention at
San Benito last Saturday and Sun-
day.

Before joining the Navy in Sept"
ember, 1950, Penell attended Mer-
cedes High School and was employ-
ed by the Ewing Motor Company.
He received Navy indoctrination
at San Diego, Calif., and upon
graduating there was transferred
to Memphis, Tenn.
He attended Airman and Avia-
tion Machinist’s Mate Schools at
Memphis, graduating in May this
year. He reported to the Corpus
Christi assignment in June. Pen-
nell is attached to an aircraft
maintenance crew at All Weather
Flight, the Navy’s most acf^nced
school for training pilots in the aft
of instrument flying.

Jones arrived Thursday from
Japan to join his wife and children
who have been here for some
time in the home of Mrs. Jones’
mother, Mrs. S. C. Bates, and to
visit with his mother, Mrs. Jennie
V. Jones, and numerous other
relatives. Col. Jones was reared
in Mercedes. Co^ and Mrs. Jones
and family are leaving soon for
Maryland, where Col. Jones has
been assigned to Andrews Field.

was hostess for a turkey dinner
and guests included the above and
