flower show and since Its hours
will extend from one o’clock
until five o’clock, there will be
ample time for those who wish
to do so to go to the Jennie
Trent Dew Library to attend
the lecture and exhibit by Mrs.
D. Werden Scott of San 8aba,
who Is being sponsored by the
Goldthwaite Art and Civic Club.

as a happy coincidence that on
the afternoon of our own fall
flower show there will be oppor-
tunity to hear Mrs. ScotJ, and to
see her wonderful .exhibits of
wild tim/qf paintings,” Mrs.
Glass said.
The accent at the Garden
Club show will be on chrysan-
themums, iris, grasses, roses and
other seasonal flowers in keep-
ing with Its theme, which Is
“Summer’s Grand Finale.”
There will be more than 100
exhibits. Mrs. M. Y. Stokes, Jr.,
hospitality chairman for the
afternoon, will welcome visitors
to the show.
This week Mrs. Glass and
Mrs. Earl T. Falrman attended
the Garden Club School num-
ber one on flower arrangements
at Austin.

flag were read In unison. Fol-
lowing a program In which 14
women took part In giving the
entire history ot U. N. In this

"Queen of the Harvest” In Star
at the climax of a Hallowe’en
Carnival at the Star School
Gymnasium last Friday night
and Kay McCasland, candidate
of the fifth and sixth grades,
won the honor of being crowned
Grammar School Hallowe’en
Queen for the occasion.
Miss Whitehead, who is a Jun-
ior, was crowned by her escort,
Davis Owens, The Coronation of
Kay McCasland was by her es-
cort, Jerry Howard. Both Queens
were honored on a stage that
had been decorated with crepe
paper of pastel shades. The
throne was covered with pink
and maroon paper covered with
pink rosea.
Before the Coronation, a large
crowd had an enjoyable evening
patronising various booths that
offergd a Believe li Or Not
Show, an Amateur Hour, a
Variety Store and various garnet,
including Chunking Oats, Daria,
and Throwing Tomatoes.

Mullin Ladies Have
Stitch And Chatter
The Stitch and Chatter Club
met with Mrs. C. R. Ashton and
Mrs. Glenn Nlckols on Tuesday,
October 24. A bountiful feast
was enjoyed at the noon hour;
each guest brought a covered
dish and the hostesses furnished
all the trimmings.
One quilt was finished and
the ladies had an enjoyable
time talking over old times and,
of course, current events.
The next meeting of the club
will be with Mrs. Kyle Lawson
on November 15. A special Invi-
tation Is extended to all old and
prospective members; each one
Is to bring a covered dish.

Under a shining "moon and
before a camp fire on the
Colorado river bank at the Del-
ton Barnett Ranch In Jones
Valley, Cub Scouts of Pack num-
ber 5 and many of their parents
met last Monday night for the
first pack meeting of the season
with “Westward Ho!” as the
theme. *
The Cubs, who made their
own Cowboy and Indian cos-
tumes, performed around an
authentic tepee that had been
provided by Dr. T. C. Graves
and awards were made to the
Cubs by Scouts who attended
the National Jamboree at Val-
ley Forge last July. The Jam- gold arrow points
