an energy official told a, wheth-

He suggested hopefully that
the coupons would be more valu-

changing to money. But the-

148 days left in the year.
Today's highlight in history:
On this date in 1963, the
United States, Britain and the
Soviet Union signed a treaty
outlawing nuclear tests in the
atmosphere, in space and under
water.
On this date:
In 1858. the first trans-Atlan-
tic cable was completed.
In 1861. the U.ft government
levied an income tax for the
first time.
In 1884. the cornerstone of the

the couple was made one.
Almost. The disapproving fed-

The Probate Court judge, on tbe

legal.
The true test of legality will
have to wait until Marcella and

their only problem. The prison
has no intention of allowing con-

DEAR DR LAMB - I am
31 years old and I have es-
ophagitis. I have had an es-

and my dot^or toW me thtfSn-

diet, no tea or coffee I don’t
drink or smoke.
&l.take:atokM:aS'd^'toli:' ■
I still have pain below my
breastbone and burning most
of the time. This has been go-
ing on for about the last year
I take diet pills, to keep me
from getting so hungry I
haven’t tost my appetite. And
if I don’t take tbe diet pill I
end up eating more and then I
am even sicker. I’m 5 feet 2.
Nine months ago I weighed
18 pounds I weigh 116 now. I
took better now than I have in
years but I don't feel better Is
there anything else l can do to
get over this? If not. how tong
can the esophagus take this
before it tins into soraetiuiw
ophagus with those diet pills.
Most of those that suppress
- yw appetite contain dregs
that ha've an action similar to
advice to not drink coffee by
taking these pills. I suggest
you stop them at.<>**. .
East a sensible bland diet
for a while and start a daily
ewnrise program such as a
dailyiWalk. Do exercises that
you can do standing up 90 you
won’t increase any reflux of
material from your stomach
into your lower esophagus.
If you follow your doctor's
advice and stay away from
those diet pills, eat sensibly
and exercise you should get
ova- this pretty soon.
It is important for people
who have a reflux erf acid
digestive material into toe
tower esophagus to correct
the situation if possible by diet
and living habits. The prolong-
ed irritation of the lower es-
ophagus can lead to scarring
nod constriction of toe lower

hard to pass food into the
