FIRST NATIONAL BANK of Highlands, 610 S^Main in Highlands, of-
ficially opened its doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the

site manager for the Dow
Chemical’s La Porte Texas
Operations site, according to
Bob Walzel, general manager of
the specialty products division.
Newton joined Dow’s Texas
Operations in 1960 and worked in
various technical and
managerial assignments. He
joined Chlor-Alkali Research in
1981 as a senior research
manager. He was named direc-
tor in 1983.
Newton has a bachleor’s
degree in chemical engineering
