Washington. Feb. 13.—Realizing
the danger to Americans In Mexico
Prom the circulation of erroneous
reports of proposed intervention by
tho United States the state depart-
ment today' issued a circular to the
diplomatic and consular agents de-
nying all such "foolish stories" as
to intervention and expressing the'
good will and sincere friendship of
the United States toward Mexico.
American representatives in Mex-
ico are instructed to circulate this
note widely. The tTnited States gov-
ernment demands of Mexico only
the respect and protection of Am-
erican life and property.
The Mexican government haB
withdrawn its request to send sol-
diers through Texas to El Paso and

Telegram States Meets Death
in Havana Waters.
Fort Worth Texas Feb. 13.—
Robert Orr a son of Mr. and Mrs.
James K. Orr of 2732 Travis street
was drowned at sea last Friday. He
enlisted in the navy about a year
ago and was on the battleship Mis-
souri. The message merely stated
he was drowned at sea near Hava-
na Cuba.

A number of boys from Waxaha-
;hie and vicinity were students in
Speer's school at Lancaster the i
juildings of which were destroyed

S. S. Boze of Waxahnchle came j
iiome on the morning train. He stat-
ed that the main building and two
lormitories were completely des-
troyed. He said the total loss was
estimated at $50000 ful'y cover-
ed by insurance. He stated the fire
started in the cupola of the main
building and was discovered be-
tween 1 and 2 o'clock. Inside of an
hour the three buildings had been
consumed Young Boze sustained a
sprained ankle In getting out of hl3
room. He lost a suit of clothes and
some electrical appliances. Nearlv
every boy in the school he said lost
something some of them not being
able to get anything out of their
rooms.

imriny in the Sneed trial today. He
said he did not remember telling
tne grand jury that he had not sain
Boyce was going to set into trouble.
Bowman is a brother-in-law of J.

Bowman said he had no recollec-
tion of discussing with Sneed before
the killing who was the best crimin-
al lawyer in Texas. He said he saw
the shooting of Boyce but could not ■
say whether the last -shot struck
the slain man in the back. He said
