the fear of a repetition of the dis-

For the first time in history the
residents of Cario and the neighbor-
ing cities are watching the rapid
rise of the Ohio and Mississippi
rivers in the belief that they are safely

Galveston Tex. April 10.- Jus-
tice of the Peace K H. Barry of this
city shot himself twice through the
head at the court house shortly af-
ter - o'clock this afternoon dying
soon afterward. No cause is known
for his self destruction. He was
j prominent in local politics.

Injured While Scuffling with
(iovernor Over I 'ossession
of Papers.

Topeka Ka.iv. April hi Mrs.
I.uella West has brought suit
against: (lie governor of this state
for for alleged damages in-
curred while in his office. She and
Hodge in a scuffle ever the posses-
sion of papers in his office Wednes-
day fell to the floor. She charges
that in the fall he struck her on the
shoulder leaving a black and blue
spot and that her arm was wrench-
ed.

Stamp Scotland Mass. April 10. —
Sherman and Veryl Uuss aged five
tried to see which could stuff the
most marbles in the mouths and both
choked. The mother succeeded in
getting the marbles out but both
children died of fright.
