Water Sports Topic
For TV Program
Water sports take the
spotlight on Wide World of
Sports Saturday (August 12)
from 5-7 p.m. EDT. The
program, seen locally on
KRGV, is co-sponsored by
the Humble Company.
During the first part of
the program viewers will
see powerful hydroplanes
skimming across the water
at well over 100 miles an
hour at the world hydroplane
championships at Seattle,
Washington. Covered will be
three final heats of 15 miles
each.
The national AAU womens*
swimming and diving
championships will be
featured in the second half
of the program.
The program is seen on
KRGV, Weslaco.

SCENE OF PARISH
LAWN PICNIC
The Dewey Acker home
was the scene of the First
Methodist Church Parish
groups #1 and #5 lawn
picnic Aug. 1.
After the picnic, Mrs. R.
C. Jones and Mrs. H. H.
Somnitz gave the program
titled “What The Parish
Means To Me’*. This was
followed by the devotion.
The group sang happy
birthday to the members who
had birthdays in the past
month.
,The meeting was adjourn-
ed by group singing of ** Blest
Be The Tie That Binds**.
Those attending included
Messrs, and Mmes. Dillon,
Tony Rippert, W. Ed Perry,
W. L. Roberds. Also C. R.
Martin.
Others included Mes-
dames J. S. Temple, R, C.
Jones, Sadie Johnston, Edith
Johnston, J.P. Van Burkleo,
Ed. Hauff, Hazel Harrell,
Stella Bryan, Jesse Brothers

Holds Meeting
The First Ladies Aid of
the Immanuel Lutheran
Church met at the parish
hall Aug, 3.
Mrs. Emma Mottmiller
served as hostess.
Mrs. John Karle conducted
the business meeting and a
donation was made to the
Church air-conditioning
fund.
Refreshments were
served to Mesdames
Erchinger, A. Krause, A. J.
Keith, Karle, Law, Rode-
baugh, E. Summers and E.
Ziebarth. Guests were the
Rev. and Mrs. John Herzog
and Mrs. Arnold Otte.
