EDNA, June 5.—A jinx of three-years
broken in Edna Sunday afternoon when the Cuero Turkey
Trotters nosed out the Edna Cowboys 10 to 9 with a make-
shift ball club that managed to win behind the pitching of
third baseman Churchill and despite eight miscues in the
field. Not since April 17, 1936 had the Cowboys dropped a
game to the Trotters prior to Sunday.
The battered Trotters, hampered by injuries and lack of
pitching this season, entered the game with little idea of win-
ning, but a six-run splurge in the opening frame gave them
new life. c

the pinches and despite poor support
managed to win. It was the second
game he has pitched this year, the
other being against the Nordheim
Tigers two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, the Trotters were
nicking Fenner and his successor,
Jess Ling, for ten safeties and as
many runs. Meitzen, Grunder.

PORT. LAVACA > June 5.—An
amazing relief role hurling demon-
stration by Woody Jackson was
enough to give the Port Lavaca
Sandcrabs a chance to overcome an
early Nordheim lead and provide
the Crabs a 6 to 4 victory over the
Tigers here Sunday. Jacksom went
to the mound in the third % after
Montier was belted for four tallies
in the second, and whiffed seven-
teen of the twenty-one batters to
face him the rest of the game.
Scoring once in the second, three
in the .fifth and two in the sixth,
the Crabs overcame a four-run Ti-
ger lead to coast home to victory.
£.Mueller, starting fWirler for the
Tigers, pitched fair ball but tired in
the fifth and turned over the mound
duties to Joe Woods, who was greet-
ed by a home run from the bat of
Wasserman, scoring two runners
ahead of him. Wasserman’s four-
base wallop knotted the count. Their
two-run splurge in the sixth gave
the Sandcrabs their margin of vic-
tory.
Wasserman led the Sandcrab of-
fensive with two hits, one a home
in three times at bat, while Eddie
Stoever paced the Tigers with two
bingles in four trips.

were squelched.
Alton Mueller, Indian third base-

struck Mueller in the face with his

at the plate.
The blow caused two deep cuts in
