SHILOH
K«ep the Chenge!" What a welcome sound
that is. It means extra money in your pocket.
You seldom hear people say it today, yet
that i* [ust what the MOTOR TRANSPOR-
TATION INDUSTRY says to you every day.
Motor transportation makes every dollar go
^farther. By substantially reducing travel and
freight rates of all transportation agencies,
motor carriers help lower your travel and liv-
ing costs and ask you to "Keep the Change!"
It costs tha citrus grower less to get his fryit
to market by truck. Texas farmers save money
in shipping their cotton by truck. Texas con-
sumers save money in lower cost commodities
transDorted by truck. Buses are becoming more
popular for their travel economy. These are but
samples of savings YOU enjoy as a result of
motor transportation. And this great industry
says to YOU, "Keep the Change, Mister!"
Texas railroads would have received $25,000,-
000 mora revenue in 1936 if they had charged
1929 rates. They could not charge 1929 rates
because of motor carrier competition. Thus
motor transportation saved the Texas public
$25,000,000 in 1936 alone, even on passengers
and freight it didn't carry, to say nothing of
those it did. All along the line it saves you
money and asks you to "Keep the Change!"
Any agency which effects sevings to the
producing end consuming public of Texas
as great as thosa brought about by motor
transportation is of anormous importance to
every Texas citizen. That agency must not be
put in a straight-jacket of hastily conceived
laws which keep it from performing its public
service most ’efficiently. Present restrictions
as to width, height end length are proper, but
motor trucks can carry much heavier loads
without danger to public and highway safety.
The ill-advised 7,000-pound load limit law
destroys the trucking industry's opportunity
for greater service, and should be repealed.
Its repeal will lessen highway hazards and
enable motor transportation to effect even
greater savings to producers and consumers. '
REPEAL THE 7,000-LB. LOAD LAW, and
Texas Motor Transportation will continue to
say to you, "KEEP THE CHANGE, MISTERI"
