TAKE NOTICE that an
election will be held on the
16th day of September, 1961,
within said District, in
obedience to an order duly
entered by the Board of
Superviors of said District,
on the 22nd day of August,
1961, and which said order
is made a component part of
this Notice, and such order
is in words and figures as
follows, to-wit:

DISTRICT NUMBER 1
ON THIS, the 22nd day of
August, 1961, the Board of
Supervisors of the HIDALGO
COUNTY FRESH WATER
SUPPLY DISTRICT
NUMBER 1 met in special
session, the following Super-
visors thereof being present
and in attendance:
EMMETT COOPER,
PRESIDENT; PENSE LOZA-
NO, SUPERVISOR; FRAN-
CISCO MARTINEZ, SUPER-
VISOR; EVARISTO MIRE-
LES, SUPERVISOR; and AN-
TONIO GOMEZ, JR., SE-
CRETARY and the following
absent: MARGARITO DEL-
GADO, constituting a
quorum; when there came
before said Board for its
consideration the matter of
constructing improvements
and additions to the Dis-
trict's Water System and the
issuance of bonds for such
purpose and for the purpose
of paying the expenses
necessarily incurred in con-
nection therewith, and after
due consideration and dis-
cussion, on motion of Eva-
risto Mireles seconded by
Francisco Martinez, the fol-
lowing order for election
was passed and adopted by
the vote of the Supervisors,
as follows: Messrs. Cooper,
Lozano, Martinez, Mireles
voting “AYE**; and none
voting “NO**.
WHEREAS, THE HIDAL-
GO COUNTY FRESH WATER
SUPPLY DISTRICT
NUMBER 1 was heretofore
created by order of the Com-
missioners* Court of Hidal-
go County, adopted on the
29th day of December, 1959,
and said District has hereto-
fore issued bonds for con-
structing, purchasing, re-
pairing, improving and ex-
tending a system for the
transportation and distribu-
tion of fresh water to the
inhabitants of the District
and for the necessary inci-

dental expenses incurred in
connection therewith; and,
WHEREAS, the funds pro-
vided by the original bond
issue of the District were
not sufficient to fully provide
the facilities required by the
District, and it has now been
determined that it is necess-
ary to make improvements to
said system by constructing
additions to said system, and
it is necessary to issue bonds
of the said District to provide
the necessary funds; and,
WHEREAS, it appearing to
this Board of Supervisors
that the estimated probable
cost of said additions or im-
provements and incidental
expenses in connection
therewith, as shown by the
report of the Engineer, is as
follows:
Extension of water lines
and acquisition of additional
water meters — $22,100.00.
Legal, engineering,
contingencies — $1,900.00
and that the total estimated
cost thereof is shown to be
$24,000; therefore,
BE IT ORDERED BY THE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF HIDALGO COUNTY
FRESH WATER SUPPLY
DISTRICT NUMBER 1:
SECTION 1: That an elec-
tion be held in said District
on the 16th day of September,
1961, which is not less than
twenty (20) nor more than
thirty (30) days from the date
of this order, at which elec-
tion there shall be submitted
to the resident, qualified
property taxpaying voters of
said District, who have duly
rendered their property for
taxation, the following
proposition:
“SHALL the Board of
Supervisors of HIDALGO
COUNTY FRESH WATER
SUPPLY DISTRICT
NUMBER 1 be authorized to
issue bonds of said District
in the amount of TWENTY-
FOUR THOUSAND DOL-
LARS ($24,000), maturing
serially or otherwise within
the discretion of the Super-
visors, not to exceed thirty
(30) years from their date,
and to bear interest at a rate
not to exceed SIX PER
CENTUM (6%) per annum, for
the purpose of constructing
improvements and additions
to the existing Water System
of the District and for
MKSM.

Epsilon Psi of EISA
Holds Hayride Party
A moonlite hayride Satur-
day, Aug. 26 marked the first
event ot the fall rush season
for members of Epsilon Psi
Chapter of E.S.A. and
rusheees.
The party began with a
social hour at the Lloyd
Nolen home. The group then
went on a hayride to Hoblit-
zelle Lake during which the
group participated in sing-
ing.
A barbecue supper was
served and dancing followed.
Guests attending included
Messrs, and Mmes. Marvin
Schwarz, John Colson, Jim
Palemore, Frank Chandler.
Members and their hus-
bands present included

SECTION 3: That said
election shall be held under
and in accordance with the
provisions of the General
Election Laws of the State of
Texas, as modified by the
provisions of Chapter 4,
Title 128, Revised Civil
Statutes of Texas, 1925, as
amended, and only resident
qualified property taxpaying
voters of the District, who
have duly rendered their
property for taxation, shall
be entitled to vote.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED
that the ballots for said elec-
tion shall be prepared in
sufficient number and in con-
formity with Chapter 6,
V.A.T.C.S. Election Code, as
amended, and that printed on
such ballots shall appear the
following:
; “FOR THE ISSUANCE OF
BONDS AND LEVY OF
TAXES IN PAYMENT
THEREOF*’
“AGAINST THE IS-
SUANCE OF BONDS AND
LEVY OF TAXES IN PAY-
MENT THEREOF*’
EACH VOTER shall mark
out with pen or pencil one of
such expressions, thus
leaving the other as indicat-
ing his vote on the proposi-
tion.
SECTION 4: Every person
who offers to vote in said
election shall take the fol-
lowing oath before the pre-
siding judge:
“I DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR
that I am a qualified voter of
Hidalgo County, Texas, and
that I am a resident property
taxpayer in HIDALGO
COUNTY FRESH WATER
SUPPLY DISTRICT
NUMBER 1, and that I have
duly rendered my property
for taxation, and have not
voted before in this elec-
tion/*
SECTION 5: A copy of this
order, signed by the mem-
bers of the Board of Super-
visors, or a majority there-
of, and attested by the Se-
cretary of said Board, shall
serve as a proper notice of
said election, and the Secre-
tary of the Board shall post
a copy of this order at four
public places within said
District and shall post one
copy thereof at the door of
the County Courthouse of
Hidalgo County for at least
twenty (20) days preceding
the date of said election; and
in addition thereto notice of
said election shall be pub-
lished once a week for three
(3) consecutive weeks in a
newspaper of general circu-
lation in and published in
Hidalgo County; and further
orders are reserved until the
returns of said election have
been made by the duly
authorized election officials
and received by the Board.

Texas in the national Miss Rural Electrification contest in
Atlantic City next March. This green-eyed brunette is 18

attend Abilene Christian College this fall.

Barr K. Ewing of Merce-
des recently completed a
two-week refresher course
at Fort Chaffee, Ark.
He was one of 2,000 non-
unit reservists trained by the
95th Division. The 95th is

In event of emergency, the
95th, dubbed the Victory Di-
vision after World War II,
would mobilize and train up
ito 14,000 men at one time in
advanced individual training,
common specialities and
basic combat training.
During their two-week tour
each summer, the men of the
95th brush up on instruction
and training methods by of-
fering a refresher course to
non-unit reservists.
