Also, congratulations to our
grandson Stephen Toller and team-
mates Jeremiah Ford and Jeremy
Ressner who received sixth place
in the recent State Small Schools
Academic Competition in San Mar-
cos. 46 teams competed. Testing
included questions in English,
math, science, and social studies.
Stephen is a senior and president of
the D.E. Club. The three teammates
are students at Cuero High School.

Pilots nominate Webb
forLt. Governor
The Pilot Club of Cuero’s recent
spaghetti supper and raffle was a
success the club was told at its
March 8 business meeting at the
Cuero Country Club.
The March 5 fundraiser grossed
$3,466, which included $1,946 on
the dinners and $1,519 on the quilt
and framed picture raffle.
The quilt was won by Vickie
Coppedge, while the picture was
won by Ann Bright.
President Kathy Dunn, Vice
President Virginia Stoldt and mem-
ber Peggy Mayer were selected as
delegates to the District Convention
to be held in Dallas on April 22-24.
Lu Webb was selected as alternate
delegate.
Webb was also nominated for
District 5 lieutenant governor,
which serves the Victoria-Cuero
area.
Four workshops will be held to
make ornaments which will be sold
at the market at district convention.
The nominating committee was
selected to suggest officers for the
coming program year. Committee
members are Peggy Bullard, Sally
Goebel and Webb.
It was announced that Daule
School was in need of old clothes
such as uniforms and dressy
clothes, so the students can play
dress-up.
The club’s newest member Don-
na^Berger was also welcomed
ly visited her daughter, Pas-
tor Beth Ann Doerring.
A number of Westhoff and area
residents attended the Citizen
Health Day held recently at the
Victoria Bank A Trust-Westhoff
Branch.
Norman and Joycie Kahlich were
in Houston over the weekend to
visit their daughter Kaye.

Post 369 held their regular
monthly meeting the 4th Monday
in Feb. Joycie Kahlich, president,
presided at the Auxiliary meeting.
It was reported the treasurer’s
books have been audited and found
to be correct Leadership training
school will be held in Seguin
March 19. Members discussed buy-
ing a lamb at the Cuero-DeWitt
County Livestock Show to be held
in Cuero March 16 thru the 18. The
District convention will be in Gon-
zales April 16 and 17. Joycie Kah-
lich’s name was called for the Jack-

55 Alive/Mature Driving, a
classroom driver improvement
course for drivers aged 50 and ol-
der, has come to Cuero. Developed
by AARP/55 Alive can sharpen
driving skills, prevent accidents,
and keep older drivers on the road
longer and more safely. For many
people 55 ALIVE can also save
them money.
Several major auto insurance
carriers in Texas offer a discount to
graduates of 55 ALIVE. For ex-
ample,, AARP’s auto insurance,
underwritten by the Hartford,
provides a 10% discount for a
period of three years after taking
the course. Interested persons
should contact their carrier to see if
such a discount is available.
The next 55 ALIVE/Mature
Driving class is being held on:
Thursday, April 7 from 1 to 5
p.m. and on Friday, April 8 from 8
a.m. to 12 noon at the Cuero Senior
Citizen Nutrition Program Center.
