housewarming, Mrs. Powell

parents with a senior girls

party.
The party, which took
place last Wednesday at the
Citrus Bowl, was attended
by Layne Atteberry, Lillian
Billings, Elizabeth B ram-
mer, Nan Hix, Cindy Jones,
Mandy McBroom, Kay Mul-
key, Frances Shannon, Janes
Wallace, Joan Wilt and the
honoree.
Refreshments were ser-
ved during the afternoon.

Honored At Party
Of MHS Classmates
Mrs. O. M. Joyce and
Mrs. Floyd Langford hon-
ored Miss Anne Lawler
Tuesday morning with a Coke
party in the Joyce home.
Miss Lawler, the daugh-
ter of former resident, Nor-
man Lawler of Brady, Texas,
will be a senior in Mer-
cedes High School next year.
She will live with her aunt
and uncle, Dr. and Mrs.
Marion Lawler.
The party, which was tc
introduce Miss Lawler to her
future classmates, was at-
tended by Misses Nan Hix,
Cynthia Hoverson, Kay
Jones, Joan Wilt, Cindy
Jones, Claire Adam, Aman-
da McBroom, Layne Atte-
berry, Nancy Hoffman, Jane
Farris, the honoree, and by
the hostesses and Mrs. Law-

HONOR COUPLE
Employees of the Magic
Valley Electric Co-Op hon-
ored Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fade
with a farewell party Thurs-
day night in the Co-op office.
The Fades are moving to
College Station where Mr.
Fade will be employed.
Approximately 60 friends
and" Co-op employees were
present to say good-bye to
the Fades. A going away gift
was presented to the honored
couple.
Those present were ser-
ved chips and dips, sand-
wiches and iced drinks.
FHA Holds Summer
Workshop At School
Mercedes Future Home-
makers of America held a
workshop August 10 through
the 18 in the high school
clothing lab.
The workshop, which was
for the purpose of arrang-
ing an F.H.A. scrapbook,
working on degrees and de-
ciding the goals for the com-
ing school year, was run by
Mrs. Billy Pruitt, Mercedes
High School home economics
teacher.
Bridge Club Meets
With Mrs. Clarke
Mrs. L. A. Clarke enter-
tained her Saturday bridge
club last week.
Present were Mesdames
Virginia Shotwell, Norma
Smith, J. C, Deyo, D, L.
Clark, O. J. Schaeffer, Ralph
Murdoch, Dennie Denman,
and H. L. Erie.
Mrs. Erie had the high
score and Mrs. Smith won the
cut prize.
Mrs. George Irby and chil-
dren, Mike, Sammy, Mindy
and T ommy are spending
several days at the beach.
