Gene Kelly manager of the
Temple Lumber Co. of Elsa
took Steve Bentsen and Har-
old McClure to' Houston to
see the Houston Colts play
San Francisco Giants July
24. The next day the boys
were taken on a tour of the
Temple Lumber Co. and the
National Bank of Commerce
in Houston.
The two boys received a
free expense trip paid by
the Temple Lumber Co. They
were selected on being the
two outstanding scouts of the
Delta Area.
Delta C.P.&L. Head
Attends Party
Dick Smith manager of
C, P. & L. of the Delta Area,
was guest at 'the party hon-
oring Alfred Putegnat who
was C. P. & L. manager
at Brownsville. Mr. Putegnat
is being retired after forty-
six years of service. The
party was sponsored byR.A.
Ewing of San Benito, district
manager and all the city
managers from over the Val-
ley. A barbecue was held at
Holly Beach on July 27 with
deep sea fishing the follow-
ing day.

HONORED AT
STORK SHOWER
. Mrs. Gilbert Hinojosa,
Yuma, Arizona, the former
Miss Aida Lozano was com-
plimented at a pink and blue
shower courtesy on Wednes-
day evening August 1, when
a group of women entertained
at the home of Mrs. Hino-
josa’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Pense Lozano, La Villa, witl
whom she and her husband
Lance-Corporal Hinojosa
are visiting while he is on
leave from his Naval Mar-
ine Base at Yuma.
Hostesses for this show-
er were Mrs. Oscar Gomez,
Elsa; Mrs. Raul Hinojosa,
McAllen; Mrs. Carlos Lo-
zano, Harlingen; Mrs. Al-
bert Handy, Mercedes; Mrs.
Ernest Carreon, Edcouch;
Mrs. Enrique Gomez, Pharr;
Mrs. Jaime Hinojosa, Mer-
cedes; Mrs. Alex Gonzalez,
Elsa; Mrs. Pense Lozano,
La Villa; and Mrs. J. M.
Hinojosa, Sr. of Mercedes.
Mrs. Handy greeted the
guests at the door. Receiving
the guests were Mrs. Hino-
josa, her mother, Mrs. Lo-
zano, her mother-in-law,
Mrs. Hinojosa, and Mrs. En-
rique Gomez; Mrs. Jaime
Hinojosa of Mercedes had ■
charge of the guest book.
A pink and blue color motif
was noted in the party dec- j
orations and the refresh-
ments. The refreshments
table, laid with a white em- j
broidered, lace cloth over |
pink, was centered with a |
large arrangement qf pink :
cammelias in a felt bootie- 1
container. An arrangement !
of similar flowers was noted j
on the buffet. The long table, |
covered in white, for the j
gifts was decorated with a
tree hung with minature baby
apparel, in blue and pink,
and a large white stork.
All members of the house-
party wore corsages of pink
chrysanthemums.
In charge of the gifts were
Mrs. Carreon and the Misses
Emma and Dora Hinojosa.
Mrs. Raul Hinojosa served
the punch. The pink and
white, bootie-shaped cake
was served by Mrs. Oscar
Gomez. Mrs. Carlos Lozano
served cookies, mints and
nuts. Mrs. Alex Gonzalez
assisted in serving.
The honoree was presented
with a list of names, suitable
for a baby, by the guests.
A special guest was in-
troduced by Mrs. Pense Lo-
zano, she was her mother,
Mrs. Juanita Gonzalez of
Sanger, California, a guest
in the Lozano home.
One hundred guests at-
tended the courtesy.

The women of the First
Presbyterian Ghurch met at
the church August 1, 2:30
p.m. with Mrs. G. E. Mc-
Cannon giving the lesson, “A
Person’s Vocation after Re-
tirement,” which was fol-
lowed by discussion by the
members.
Mrs. L. R. Moddle presi-
dent opened the meeting with
a devotional and presided
over the business. The group
voted to buy an electric fan
for a room in the Education-
al building.

County, Texas, as the plat
of said land was before such
subdivision of the Delta Or-
chards Company Unit No.
Five was made.
In support of such request
Rio Farms, Inc. would show
that such cancellation of a
portion of such subdivision
will not interfere with the
established rights of any
purchaser owning any por-
tion of such subdivision.
Rio Farms, Inc, would fur-
ther show that it is the
owner in fee of Lots One
(1) through 292 of the Delta
Orchards Company Unit No.
Five Subdivision, Hidalgo
and Willacy Counties, Texas,
with the exception of the fol-

Rio Farms, Inc. would fur-

287, 288, and 289 a re lo-
cated in Willacy County,

WHEREFORE, premises
considered, Rio Farms, Inc,
respectfully requests said
Commissioners Court to en-
ter an order cancelling such
portion of said subdivision
and enter such order upon
the minutes of such Court,
authorizing such owner of
such lands to cancel the same
by a written instrument de-
scribing such subdivision
and portions thereof so can-
celed as designated by said
Court.
Any person interested in
