the City Commission of the
City of Mercedes, Texas,
will hold a public hearing on
the 14th day of September,
1964, at 7:00 P.M. in the
City Commission Meeting
Room at the City Hall, City
of Mercedes, Texas to con-
sider the proposed Urban
Renewal Plan for Project
No. Tex. R-57, known as
Queen City No. 2. The Pro-
ject Area is described as

gation Canal as a starting

of Missouri Avenue;

Right-of-way line of U. S.
Highway 83; thence
West along the North
Right-of-way line of U. S.
Highway 83 to the East
Right-of-way line of Vir-
ginia Avenue; thence

ginia Avenue to the South
Right-of-way line of 1st
Street; thence

Queen City No. 2, Pro-
ject No. Tex. R-57, is an
Urban Renewal Project
which is an undertaking un-
der State and local law with
Federal financial assistance
under Title I of the Housing
Act of 1949, as amended;
to acquire landin the project
area; to demolish or remove
buildings and improvements;
to install, construct or re-
construct streets, utilities,
parks, playgrounds, and
other project improvements;
to make land available for
development or re-develop-
ment by private enterprise
or public agencies as autho-
rized by law; and to carry
out plans for a program of
repair and rehabilitation of
buildings or other improve-
ments.
The Mercedes Urban Re-
newal Agency’s proposals
with respect to relocation
will be available for exami-
nation and discussion at the
hearing.
Any person or organiza-
tion desiring to be heard
will be afforded an oppor-
tunity to be heard and may

brother, Robert Colvin,
president of the Gibsland
Bank of Gibsland, La.
Mr. Colvin was a pioneer
of La Feria and Mercedes
since 1912. He attended Mer-
cedes High School from 1915
to 1919.
Mrs. McNeil has been on
an extended visit in the east
with relatives in New York
and Alabama and expects to
return to her home here
in the Fall.
