Formula for Progress:
KIKA DE LA GARZA
FOR U. S. CONGRESS
Saturday, June 6, 1964
We must progress — all parts and all people of the 15th Congressional District must.
We must grow In economic strength and In human betterment. That Is why It is so Im-
portant to send KIKA DE LA GARZA to Washington as our Congressman. KIKA
symbolizes our strength and unity. KIKA Is the logical choice.
KIKA DE LA GARZA
has the background and the experience to serve well. He has served in the Texas
House of Representatives since 1952. His ability has been proved. His judgment has
been tested. His devotion to the public interest is beyond question.
As a State Representative, KIKA DE LA GARZA wrote, co-authored, or guided key state-
wide legislation for creation of the Texas Youth Council, establishment of a state adult
parole system, creation of the Texas Water Development Board, establishment of the
Texas Migrant Labor Council, and creation of a pre-school English program.
As your Congressman, KIKA DE LA GARZA will carry forward a constructive program
of representation. He will work for continuation of cold-hardiness studies for fruit and
vegetables produced in South Texas. He will work for establishment of South Texas
on tho front line of the national space program. He will work for development of a
dam on the Nueces River near Cotulla and construction of a river gauging station on
tho Rio Grande near Eagle Pass. He will work for co-operation between tho U. S. and
Mexico to solve the El Murillo drainage problem and to construct a tidewater dam to
halt the flow of salt water up the Rio Grande. He will work for a sensible solution to
the beef import problem to protect the South Texas livestock industry.
KIKA DE LA GARZA is a good citizen and a devout family man. He and his wife,
Lucille, and their three children — Jorge, Mike, and Angela —- live In Mission. You
can be proud to have KIKA DE LA GARZA represent you In Washington. You cqn know
that KIKA always will vote in the best Interest of all the people of South Texas and
never according to the dictates of bohlnd-the-scones agitators and manipulators.
YOUR VOTE IS VITAL
Your vote is vital. KIKA ltd in tho first primary by some 10,000 votos. If he is to win
tho runoff election Juno 6, you must vote. If tho people who belltve in individual
choice voting do not vote, the bloc-vote politicians suroly will pick your Congressman
for you. Vote Saturday, June 6, Vote for KIKA DE LA GARZA for Congress,
FIFTEENTH DISTRICT OF TEXAS: Cameron, Hlldalgo, Willacy, Starr, Zapata, Jim Hogg,
