Wedding Vows In Catholic Rites
•--Sti'rling Prince Photo
MRS, AARON YARRITU
Our Lady of Mercy Church
was the setting of the wedding
when Miss Gloria Cantu be-
came the bride of Aaron Yar-
ritu of Donna. The Rev. Ger-
ald Fogerty, O.M.I., offi-
ciated at the 7:00 P.M. double
ring ceremony Monday, Sep-
tember 14.
The parents of the couple
are Mr. and Mrs. Jose N.
Cantu of Mercedes and Mr.
and Mrs. Cleto Yarritu of
Donna.
Miss Dora Hernandez of
Pharr, organist, played tra-
ditional wedding selections.
White gladioli were used in
the church floral appoint-
ments. The bridal entrance
was marked with a large
basket of the flowers and
they were also used on the
side pews, with streamers
of white satin ribbon, from
the entrance to the altar.
Bright peach gladioli mark-
ed the family pews.
Large baskets of white
gladioli and carnations also
flanked the communion rail
and similar arrangements
were used on the main and
side altars with jade leaf
palm forming the back-
ground.
The bride entered the
church on the arm of her
father. She wore a gown of
white satin with a basque
bodice of Alencon lace; the
elongated waistline swept in-
to a bouffant skirt, ending in
a court train. Alencon lace
flowers each featured a tiny
pearl.
Her scalloped veil of im-
ported illusion was held by
a tiara embroidered with
sequins and pearls. She car-
ried a cascade bouquet ofor-
chids and carnations on a
white prayer book.
Miss Lupita Cantu, sister
of the bride, was maid of
honor. She wore a street
length dress of peach gor-
rett over silk, featuring a
train in the back. A satin
bow was in the front of the
dress and matching satin
shoes and bow hat were used.
Long opera gloves were used
to finish her ensemble.
The bridesmaids were
Misses Arcelia Contreras
of Alamo and Melva Gomez
of Pharr. They wore iden-
tical dresses of the same
style as the maid of honor,
was lime green. The maid
of honor carried a lime
green bouquet, and the bride-
maids bouquets were peach.
The bouquets were large gla-
