Teletype Messages In reviewing the exchange of messages over the teletype between you and Lurie on yesterday, the 22nd, I so struck by the frequency with which you refer to Herb, quoting "Herb says", etc. May I suggest that while I can understand the reluctance on your part to invite some of Lurie' s sarcasm, criticism or doubts, I think under present conditions Herb should not be bothered or consulted in con- nection with the reply to each message dealing with the purchase or sale of raw sugars. We expect you to assume more and more responsibility in this matter and Lurie may just as well be made to understand, in polite language, of course, that we have confidence in your ability to handle the matter and that we must conserve Herbert's strength, mental and physical, as inuch as possible.
