A fire loss is a loss no matter how
It is figured. The partlul relief that
insurance affords adds hut another
Item to our tax burden, hut that which
fire consumes is gone forever.
A large majority of the fires that
occur are prevent aide, for they spring
frem conditions that exist rrlnclpall.v
because of our indifference toward
them. Fire Prevention Wi*ek is set
aside each year as a time for us to
think and act on preventing, restrict-
ing and extinguishing fires.
Now, therefore, I, Bruce II. IIol-
sotnlmek. Mayor of the City of Crys-
tal City. Texas, do hereby proclaim
the period of October fith to 18th as
Fire Prevention week in this City this
year.
Let our public officers, sehool au-
thorities, local organizations, and all
of our people, prepare for execution
during that time an educational pro-
gram which shall Include instruction
of school children In ways and means
of preventing fires, as well as a cam-
paign against fire hazards and all con-
ditions that may cause or promote
the spread of fire: and when we shall
have thus finished our observance of
the occasion, let ns utilize the lessons
and experiences so gained in making
fire prevention an Imiortant and per-
manent phase of tin* civic life of this
