MRS. SID ROSS
A strong wind storm struck Bates-
ville Tuesday, accompaniied by some
hail and light shower of rain. No se-
rious damage was reported from the
wind.
At
Rev. W. J. Nelson filled his regular
appointment here Sunday. He was
accompanied by Mrs. Nelson. While
here they were guests of his brother,
T. T. Nelson and family.

Rev. Weeden, Assistant District
Missionary, will preach at the Bap-
tist Church Sunday night. Everyone
is cordially invited to attend.

We are sorry to hear that Bernard
Brown had the misfortune to break
his leg over, last Saturday while vis-
iting his brother, Paul Brown and
family near Dilley. He was rushed to
the hospital at Fort Sam Houston.

Mrs. Bill Smither and son and Mrs.
Fred Davis and daughter were shop-
ping in Uvalde, Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Darby, Mrs.
J. N. Sawyers, and Mrs. D. E. Saw-
yers were San Antonio visitors, Fri-
day.

Simpson of San Antonio visited rela-
tives here over the week-end.

Mr. and Mrs. Clio Lee and children
of Hereford visited Mr. and Mrs. T.
T. Nelson several days last week.

There were several new pupils to
start to school here after the holi-
days. Among them are two sons of
Mr .and Mrs. J. A. Simpson who
recently moved here from Crystal
City, and the two sons and a daugh-
ter of Mr .and Mrs. Everett Darby
who came here from California and
are seeking a home here. At present
they are visiting with her mother,
Mrs. J. N. Sawyers.

Mr. and Mrs. S. I. Ross and son,
Mrs. Sid L. Ross and Miss Joy Nich-
ols visited in Dilley, Cotulla, Big
Wells and Brundage, last Sunday.

trucks to begin building on the store

j ly purchased the lots where the Mc-
Alister and Hargreaves store once

We regret to report Mrs. Helen
Young on the sick list this week.

and flu.

holidays, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Smith
and son, James Bert, of San Diego,
California; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Peace
and son of San Antonio; Rev. and
Mrs. Bill Mason and daughter, of
Temple; Mr. and Mrs. Toss Peace,
Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Moore and son,
and Mrs. D. A. Harrison of La Pryor.

children spent the holidays with her
parents at Yoakum.

ties in the schools there. They were
accompanied as far as San Antonio
by her parents who visited two other
daughters, Miss Margaret Lee Saw-
yers, and Mrs. C. C. Burris and fam-
ily.
