AUXILIARY CONVENTION
H. Rollin Lancaster, 15th District
Conlmandcr of the American Legion,
and Mrs. Lancaster, president of the
American Legion Auxiliary, and
Mesdbmes Jessie Shearer and Bessie
Speer attended an American Legion
and Auxiliary Convention in Mc-
Allen, on Sunday, Dec. 2. They met
in Legion Hall at 9:00 a. m. and
heard several good talks made by
Sen. Rogers Kelley of Edinburg,
Shorty Abrens of Laredo, Mrs. Ranz
of Me Allen, and Commander Lan-
caster.
The meeting adjourned at 11.00 in
order that each person could attend
church services. At 12:00 noon a bar-
becue dinner was served.
Business was resumed at 2:00 p. m.
Amrican Legion members met at Le-
gion Hall and the Auxiliary at the
Chamber of Commerce building.
Much good was accomplished by
the Auxiliary delegates; as they are
new on the job, however, they feel
proud of the showing they have
made as compared to much older or-
ganizations.
The Crystal City delegates were
registered at the Cascade Palmas Ho-
tel and enjoyed the hospitalities
shown them. They report McAllen a
friendly town and very pretty at this
season as the citrus and papaya trees
are outstanding and the bougainvil-
lias , with their red, purple and rust
colored clusters of blossoms, and the
poinsettias are very shoi^y. The py-
rocanthus are very attractive, in fact
they could well serve as the Christ-
mas holly.
All in all, they report a grand time
and all are glad they attended the
Convention. Those who failed to at-
tend missed a lot. i
