us an all-weather highway out of
Rocksprings and Edwards county to
every point of the compass, for it
will traverse a route unaffected by
high water and other conditions which
we do not now enjoy.
San Angelo is very anxious to re-
ceive a part of the vast trade of this
section, which is rightfully hers, on
account of its location, and is joining
hands with Sonora and Rocksprings
in an effort to secure this road.
The people of this section (every-
thing being equal) would rather do
their trading at San Angelo than at
any other point we know of, on ac-
count of the fact that San Angelo is
a west Texas city and shows a west
Texas spirit; in fact, San Angelo is

•If you are thinking about SELF
then in God’s name wipe self off the
map, get busy and assist your neigh-
bor; when you will have done this,
then you have really and truly helped
yourself. This is a movement for all,
and is too big for a LITTLE SELF.
In order that the proposition be put
over as it should, then the entire coun-
ty should get interested, and work
to the end that they are behind any-
thing for the greatest good of the
county as a whole, and when they
study this matter and look into its
possibilites, we are sure then Edwards
county citizens will agree that an ad-
ditional tax be placed on their prop-
erty that will take care.of the situa-
tion, if they are assured that every
dollar of this additional tax money will
be spent on this highway.
Now that Sonora and San Angelo
have showed a willingness to help in
this improvement it would become us
at this time to.say further, that this
road would bring a closer relationship
as between the different communities,
and from this would spring a desire ! finally passed by the Legislature Fri-

This road would be of great benefit
to Rocksprings, Sonora and San An-
gelo, and the counties through which j
it traversed.
Think it over and get to work for
the community in which you are liv-
ing, and you will feel better for your
efforts along this line, for we are
sure that in the ev'ent this highway is
built, then every acre of land in Ed-
wards county will materially advance
in price.

and aside from this, San Angelo is
anxious to do everything in its power
to advance this wonderful stock rais-
ing country, while- this cannot be said
of the city that is now receiving near-
ly all our trade.
These are only a few facts that
should enter into the construction of
this highway; there are many others
that we might enumerate, yet we feel
that these should be . sufficient to
cause every merchant of Rocksprings
and every ranchman in Edwards coun-
ty to put their shoulders to the wheel
of progress and put this proposition
over.
Some tell us it can’t be done—we
can’t -vote more bonds, we can’t do
this, that and the other—To them we
will say that statements like this are
mere child’s prattle; we can put this
over if we will ALL get together
and make an effort that becomes the
big men of the west. The committee
at work on this proposition are ex-
perienced men; business men, if you
please; and are a part of the west,
and we feel that they will go into
this matter in a manner that will
bring results, if they can receive that
degree of backing that they are en-

Though the Ford tires are
designated as 30 x 4J50,
they have the resiliency and
air space of much larger
tires because of the drop
center rim of the steel-spoke
wheels.
For best results,’ the tires
on the new Ford should be
kept inflated to an air pres-
sure of 35 pounds and
checked regularly to Insure
this pressure all the time.
This is important. Low In-
flation breaks down the side-
walls of a tire. By causing
overheating, it also destroys
the rubber that acts as an
insulation, with consequent
separation of the cord.
At the end of each 5000
miles, when you have the
front wheels packed with
nease, it is a good plan to
have the wheel alignment
cheeked. This will prevent
premature wear.
When punctures come, as
they will with any tire, you
will find the Ford dealer
particularly well-equipped
to make repairs quickly and
at small cost. See him, too,
for replacements. Then
