Piano solos at brunch are Music Club opener

The course of study for the
1978-79 Music Club programs is
"Musical Theater.”
In keeping with that theme,
performing artists at the first fall
meeting were Myra and Bobbi
Cqx who played piano solo
selections. Music from New’
Orleans and the jazz
the committee who helped with
compiling the books, she thanked
Mary Lynn Chester, Jenna
Jackson and Pat Taylor, and
invited each member to have a
"slice'’ as she received her
yearbook.
President Dorene Allen presid-
ed al a shun business
and expected to be a much needed
convenience, was explained. The
coordinator’s duties will be to
remind members of the topics and
program lay-out and be responsi-
ble for providing the correct
musical materials at each
meeting.

A special guest at the Saturday
morning brunch in the home of
Mrs. D C. Ware was Joan Hines
of Hobbs, N.M., the girls’ pi^no
teacher Other guests were Mrs
Raymond Thomas and Mrs. Avon
Bowling.
Assisting Mrs. Ware with
hostess duties were Linda
Leonard and Brenda Barrett. An
assortment of hot breads, muf-
fins, sausage rolls and fruit salad
served with coffee or punch was
offered from the dining . table.
Covered with pal*1 sea-foam lace
over crimson satin, the table was
centered by an alabaster and
brass compote filled with clusters
al grapes and placed beside a
hand-carved miniature grancr
piano brought from .Switzerland
by Mrs. Leonard. Blending with
the bounty motif was a floor
basket of dried flowers in fall
colors. Milk glass and silver were
serving appointments.
The hymn of the month. "Hail to
the Brightness,” was introduced
and led by Jean Moffatt with Mrs.
Leonard at the piano. Mrs
Mo'ffatt also spoke to the
members as president of District
II of the Texas Federation of
Music Clubs with which this club
is affiliated. Other district officers
from Seminole are Mrs Ware,
corresponding secretary and Miss
Pat Taylor, treasurer
Commentator for the program
was Mrs Barrett who also gave a
brief review on the course of study
that will be undertaken.
Presentation of the new
yearbooks was done in a unique
manner by . Jean Barron who'
brought them in a cake pan She
likened the contents to the
ingredients of a cake with each
member of her committee
providing a layer. Th recognizing

discussed some revision of the
