I Explorer wins public speaking
Cleta Curry, a senior at
Seminole High School and the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Curry, came back from El Paso
with a first place trophy.
Having won first place in public
speaking at the South Plains
Explorer Seoul .Council level,
Cleta was judged first at the Area
Challenge.” In her talk she made
a comparison between climbing a
mountain and the challenge of
life. She brought out that the
experience and training gained
from involvement with Explorer
Scouting is a great benefit in
meeting the challenges.
She was assisted in preparation
rendered outstanding service to
religious institution, school or
community. Also that they
maintain active membership in a
religious institution and the post
to which they belong. The age
limit is 21.
This is the first time in lour
years that the South Plains
Cleta Curry
She competed against four other
Explorers representing the nine
Councils, in her Area of South
Plains Central Region. The win
makes her eligible to speak in
regional competition at the
Dallas Hilton on Nov. 7-8
