Martin, Parker exchange wedding vows
Shelly Renee Martin of Cuero
and Nathan Albert Parker of
Victoria exchanged wedding
vows at Friendship Baptist
Church in Victoria on Aug. 28,
2004 at 4 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth
Parker, father of the groom, offi-
ciated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Delbert and Carol Martin of
Cuero. She is the granddaughter
of Janice and Walter Kuck of
Shiner and Juanita Martin of
Lovington, New Mexico, and the
great-granddaughter of Ruth
Breitkreutz of Shiner.
The groom is the son of
Kenneth and Sharon Parker of
Victoria. He is the grandson of
Kathryn Parker, George and Pat
Olson, and Jake Parker, all of
Cuero.
The church was adorned with
aisle candelabras attached with
mixed greenery and bows. Ivory
gauze draped each candelabra to
one another. An aisle runner was
held down by 125 stem rose
petals of white and ivory roses.
In between, each side window
held open hearts of white
alstromerias, white buttons,
white roses, and misty white.
They hung off white sheer rib-
bon. The front of the church was
decorated with a 15 branch can-
delabra, two 7-branch cande-
labras, and 3 branch cande-
labras, all graced with greenery.
Four massive arrangements of
white gladiolus, white stock,
white spider lilies, and white car-
nations also adorned the front of
the church.
At the front altar was a 20 foot
rail, made by the bride’s father,
which held flowers of white and
eggshell stick, white spray roses,
white buttons, and white cushion
mums. The flowers on the rail
were accented with sprengeri
fern.
Bridesmaids were Hollie
Garcia, Mollie James, Misty
Thompson, and Karen Schley, all
of Victoria. The bridesmaids’
dresses were two-piece wine col-
ored formal dresses. The tops
were short sleeve, v-neck, crepe
back satin that buttoned in the
back. The skirts were also made
of crepe back satin; they zipped
in the back and were floor length.
The bridesmaids carried clutches
of Acapulco lilies with lily grass
entwined in the flowers.
The flower girl was Gretchen
Kuck of College Station. She car-
ried a basket of roses and daisies
and wore a wreath of baby’s
breath. She was escorted by the
ring bearer, Garret Sankey of
Sterling, Kansas. Both are
cousins of the bride.
Before the bride, who was
escorted by her father, entered
bell ringers ringing bells and
announcing the bride’s entrance.
Bell ringers were Hannah and
Naomi Parker, sisters of the
groom, and Reagan, Lindsey, and
Katelyn Kuck, cousins of the
bride.
The bride chose a designer
gown from Anjolique; her gown
was purchased from Ventura’s
Bridal out of Houston. Her dress
was an A-line dress of matte
satin that had a corset style lace
up back. The color of the dress
was gold on gold. The bodice and
hemline were adorned with gold
wrapped soutache cording in a
stylish intricate design.
Detachable straps that were
beaded with matching gold and
iridescent beads crisscrossed in
the back and snapped into the
front and back of the dress. She
carried a waterfall style bouquet,
designed by the groom’s mother,
of Acapulco lilies, white dendro-
bium orchids, Virginia roses,
freesia, and pale pink mini calla
lilies, all accented with bear
grass.
Groomsmen were Aaron
Hensley and Brad Fortenberry,
both of Victoria, and Jonathan
McDonald of Waco, friends of the
groom; and Kris Martin, brother
of the bride, currently serving in
the US Air Force stationed in
Louisiana. The groom and
groomsmen wore black tuxedos
with tails and vests. The groom’s
vest was an ivory color to match
the bride’s attire and the grooms-
men wore black vests.
As the couple lit the unity can-
dle, Sharon Parker, mother of
the groom, sand the Lord’s
Prayer. Before the couple walked
back down the aisle, an aisle run-
ner, designed by Pam
Branstetter, friend of the bride’s
family, was rolled down the aisle.
It read, in Old English script,
“And they lived happily ever
after.” The bell ringers went
before the couple announcing
Nathan and Shelly Parker.
A reception, dinner, and dance
were held at Inez Community
Center. In the foyer of the com-
munity center was a garden
theme of green and blooming
plants. As you entered the hall

blocks; half was chocolate with
icing filling and half white with
pineapple filling. In the center of
the three-foot long cake was a

arch and flowers of bright colors.

budding carnations graced the
center of the dance floor and was
hung by burgundy ribbon.
Around the punch bowl was a
ring of 100 fresh roses of milva,
splendid, Renate, and sweet

punch bowl were two roses.
