by J.F. Knebel
Outdoor Scene
Pescadores Tournament
In spite of wind gusting up to
25 mph, the 2005 DeWitt County
Pescadores fishing tournament
was a smashing success and a lot
of fish were caught by those
experienced anglers who knew
where to go to find calm clear
water.
Thirty-five boats and 135
anglers fished in this year's tour-
nament on June 4; and over 300,
that included spouses, children,
and guests, attended the awards
ceremony Saturday evening.
This year the meal consisted
of a shrimp boil similar to what
one eats at the "Boiling Pot”. The
food was great and everyone
enjoyed an evening of fellowship
as master of ceremonies Bobby
Lane presented the awards and
numerous valuable door prizes.
Special recognition was given
to the donors that made this
year's tournament possible
which included Cuero State
Bank, Pokluda Surveyors, Dunn
Services, Cuero Livestock
Commission, Pakebusch's and
Rendezvous, Southern Field
Maintenance, Storm Services,
McMahan Welding, Weber Motor
Co., Lane Insurance, and Jay
and Cheryl Bramlette.
"Hurricane" Bob also expressed
gratitude for the assistance given
by the Stakes, Hudson, and his
family for helping.
Weigh masters were Cliff and
Richard Weber and Johnny
Pokluda. Carlyle Stakes
arranged for the meal, and Jeff
Hudson handled registration.
