Llano's Masonic Lodge #242
honored a pair of Llano High
School seniors and a science
teacher last week In ceremonies
where the three received the
Mlrabeau B. Lamar Medal and
framed certificates.
Receiving the most
prestigious award presented by
the Masonic Order for
Education were Corina
Schwlntz. Todd Sudduth and
teacher Bruce Bush.
The second President of the
Republic of Texas. Lamar, was a
Mason and Is known as “the
Father of the - Texas Public
School System." because his
work resulted in the State of
Texas setting up a public school
system.
Corina Schwlntz. the girl
chosen in our area to receive
this award, ranks In the top ten
percent of her graduating class.
As a freshman, she was
elected representative to the
student council for the
Freshman class: was elected
Junior Varsity Cheerleader:
played on the Freshman
basketball team: and was on the
Varsity Track team.
She has participated on the
Varsity Tennis team while a
freshman, sophomore, junior
and senior. She continued to
participate on the Junior
Varsity Basketball team while a
sophomore and Junior, and was
a Varsity Cheerleader as a
sophomore. Junior and senior.
She was elected Junior Class
Favorite, and as a Junior, was the
Homecoming Queen., and served
as an usherette at the
graduation. She was an
Academic Honors Student, and
a member of the National Honor
Society. She attended Girl's
State, and was a semlflnallst in
America’s Homecoming Queen
Pageant. As a senior, she was
elected Student Council
Treasurer. Class Favorite,
Football Sweetheart, National
Honor Society Vice-President,
and was selected as an All-Star
Cheerleader. *
Finally, she has been listed In
Who's Who Among American
High School Students while a
freshr’^n, sophomore and
junior. ,
She plans to attend
Southwest Texas State
University and major in
Arthur M. Clements, M.D.

Llano High School
Computer Department
The Llano High School Computer Department
will be offering a computer class entitled "In-
troduction to DOS" starting Monday, Biarch
23. The class will meet one night per week,
each Monday from 6 to 9:00 p.m. for eight
weeks through May 11.
This class will include basic information about
Biicrosoft's Disk Operating System, DOS, for
the IBM Personal Computer and compatibles,
through version 5.0; and also will include unit
on Windows 3.0 The cost for the class is $45.
To register please contact Sharia at the high

20 students.

The boy chosen for this award
is Todd Sudduth. He ranks in
the top quarter of his class, and
is an honor roll student. He was
elected Senior Class
Representative, and served on
the Student Council. He is a
member of the Symphonic
Band, the Marching Band, and
made the All-District Band. He
was also selected to the All-
Region Band as a Junior and
senior. His fellow Llano Yel-
lowjacket Band members
selected him as the Outstanding
Bandsman when he was a
sophomore, and again when he
was a Junior.
He has received perfect atten-
dance awards and participated
in the Close-Up Program. The
American Legion sponsored his
attendance at Boys' State. He is
an office aide at Llano High
School, a position that requires

someone who Is dependable,
trustworthy, and a responsible
person. He was recognized In
Who's Who Among American
High School Students as a Ju-
nior and as a senior. He plans
to attend Texas Tech University
and major In Mechanical
Engineering.
The teacher chosen to receive
this award is Bruce Bush. He is
married to Judy Owen, and they
have two boys and one girl. He
has been In the teaching
profession for 18 years, and has
taught in Llano lor 10 years.
He Is presently one of the
Llano Junior High science
teachers. He works with
students involved in University
HHerscholastte. League
academic events. He films the
varsity football games and the
Junior high football games. He
has coached high school
basketball, and drives a school
bus.
He coaches a LIUle Dribblers
basketball team, was In charge
of building a new wash rack In
the lamb building for the Llano
Jr. Livestock Show, and la an
active member of the First
Baptist Church.
For his dedication to
education, for being an
outstanding role model for the
young folks around him, and for
helping to mold these students
Into citizens their community
can be proud of. tt gives us great
pleasure to present the

macist, now director of National Die-
tary Research, may have discovered
