Grand Champion team
The Llano BBQ Cook-Off team
"End of the Trail” was Judged
Grand Champion of the Llano
Chamber of Commerce event
last Saturday at Robinson City
park.
The team also won the coveted
Showmanship Award and was
Judged first In Pork BBQ and
came In second in the sausage
category.
Twin Pit BBQ of Dallas took a
pair of first places with their
Chicken BBQ and the bean
contest.
The Road Gang from San Saba
placed first in the brisket cate-
gory and McNutt Ranch Her-
masas of Mountain Home took
the blue ribbon in the BBQ Goat
category.
GRAND CHAMPIONS...The End of the Trail barbecue team took grand champion honors
at last Saturday's BBQ Cook-Off here In Llano. The team was made up of Phillip Parker.
Steve Wisdom and Chase and Chad Parker.

The annual Beef-Range Field
Day sponsored by the extension
Service and L)ano County Soil
arid‘Water Conservation District
will be held June 18. Registra-
tion will be at the Llano Live-
stock Auction Barn from 8:30-9
a.m.
The morning tour will Include
demonstra^iopp on killing
mesquite and prickly pear, fire
ant control, and deferred
grazing systems. The afternoon
sessions will include programs
on InJecUon site damage to beef
carcasses, ear tags for homfly
control, rumen injection cattle
worming, cattle implants, and a
report on water commission
regulations and antl-discrlmi-
natory requirements in hiring
agricultural workers.

’MEAN MACHINE'...This AH64 Apache Helicopter visited Llano last Saturday aa part of
the Rodeo Parade and Rodeo weekend here. The Apache, assigned to the 4th Squadron, Oth
Air Cavalry Brigade at Fort Hood, was much used in Desert Storm and Is armed with a
variey of weapons Including the Hellflre, a laser-guided anti-tank missile. Its nuudmua
mission gross weight is listed at 17,600 pounds and carries a crew of two.

Longest Day of Golf
is coming June 19-21

The noon meal is being spon-
sored by Llano National Bank.
Participants who have either
Certified Private Applicators
Certificates or Private Pesticide
Applicators Licenses can re-
ceive two hours of in-service
credits by attending this field
day program. The public is in-
vited to attend.
Don't forget the Longest Day
of Coif, which can be played any
of three days the weekend of
June 10-21, and will aid in the
American Cancer Society’s fight
against one of the country's
leading causes of death.
Sarah Franklin and Corky
Vlrdell are heading up the
"Longest Day of Golf for the
Llano unit of the American Can-
cer Society. They are encour-
aging golfers to get a foursome
together to play on any one of
the days of the weekend at the
Llano Golf Course. Golfers will
solicit supporters to pledge do-
nations of a specified amount
per hole played during the day.
A brown bag lunch will be
provided and green fees will be
waived for Longest Day of Golf
players at the Llano Coif
Course.
Players can sign up for the
event by calling Sarah Franklin
