comedian of topmost

j ing new film comedy, “Never
j Say (Goodbye,” co-starring Elea-
i nor Parker, which plays Tuesday
and Wednesday at the Melba
Theatre. As a mirth-provoking
adventure in modern marriage,
with some excellent common-
sence philosophy behind its
halarious exterior, the new mo-
tion picture wins this column's
unqualified recommendation as
one of the brightest comedies of
the season.
That love conquers nothing
whatsoever until the final comic
reel, is due as much, perhaps, to
Ellen’s mother (Lucile Watson)
and straight-laced attorney
(Donald Woods), both of whom
decry Philip’s irresponsibility,
as it is to Philip’s own peculiar-
ly defective memory. For Philip,
a successful commercisl artist
and creater of the famous Gay-
ley Girl, develops a highly irreg-
ular mental blank every time he
makes an appointment with his
beautiful model (Peggy Knud-
sen), which proves embarrassing
to Ellen, who has put up a val-
iant struggle to maintain her
I faith in Philip’s sincerity.
| As Philip, Errol Flynn tor-
i'sakes his erstwhile swashbuck-
ling in favor of a warm and
human portrayal of an average
husband in love with his wife,
and emerges as a top rank com-
edian, bound for even wider pop-
ularity than has been his to
date.
