pell, a suburb of Dallas, Mr. and
Mrs. N. L. Jones of Irving, and Mr.
and Mrs. Jimmy Carroll Cummings
of Houston were recent visitors in
the home of their parents and gran-
dparents, Mr and Mrs. George W.
Cummings.
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Fitts atten-
ded the 50th wedding anniversary
Saturday afternoon of Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Bice who live iri the Central High
community.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Miller and Mrs.
Mary Edith Sparks from Como, who
came for the Bice anniversary, were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Fitts
and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Harvey.
The ladies from this area who
were in Rusk Monday night to attend
the Cherokee County Heritage
Association were: Mrs. Ruth
Nelson, Mrs. Golda Gulledge, Mrs.
J. C. Boyd, and Mrs. Evelyn Rogers.
Mr. and Mrs. Alton Marshall were
in Huntington Sunday afternoon
visiting their son and his wife, Mr.
and Mrs. Jessie Lee Marshall, their
daughter, Ruby Lee and children
from New Orleans, Louisiana, who
were guests of Mrs. Jessie Lee Mar-
shall’s mother and sisters who live
in Huntington.
Mr. Jessie Lee Marshall, his two
granddaughters, arid a friend who
were enroute to Longview Monday
on business, stopped for a brief visit
with Mr. and Mrs. Alton Marshall.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Richardson of
Lufki n were guests last week of Mrs.
Richardson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Tommy Kitts.

Little Miss Sophia Holloway of
Nacogdoches is spending a few days
with her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. W. Adams. Mr. and Mrs.
Jerry Adams and family of Tyler
were guests in the Adams’ home last
weekend
Mr. and Mrs. Spot Seiman of San-
ta Fe, Texas, spent Thursday and
Friday with Spot’s sister and her
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Jowell
and also another sister, Mrs Verline
Yates. On their way home, they
visited Mr and Mrs. J. W. Harvey
and Spot's brothei William and his
wife in the Central High Com-
munity.
Mr. Grant Powell of Mesquite
spent last week with his mother,
Mrs Edna Powell.
Mr. Jerry Goodman and son,
Jerry Wayne of Dialville, were din-
ner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs.
Marvin Reynolds. Their guest Wed-
nesday was Mr. Reynolds’ brother

from Red Oak, who are on vacation

Nacogdoches were guests Saturday
night of their parents, Mr and Mrs.
J. C. Seiman. While here they atten-

monthly meeting, Nov. 3

The Super Seniors of Hilltop Bap-
tist Church met Tuesday Nov. 3 to
celebrate the Thanksgiving Season
Upon entering the ’’Chapel in the
Gym’ ’ each one’s thoughts turned to
Thanksgiving as the four long tables
were laden with big and little pum-
pkins, Indian Corn, red green and
yellow peppers interspersed with
East Texas colored leaves and
orange Tithonia daisies The tables
were decorated by Jessie Ash and
Babe Smith. The people had punch
and coffee as they enjoyed
fellowship until 11 o’clock
Hubert Davis called the happy
people to order as Bro. BUI Morgan
led the following choruses. Deep
and Wide,” “Roll Away,” and
"We re Having the Time cf Our
Lives,” accompanied by Jo Morgan
at the piano.
Hubert recognized the 77 people
and visitors. He asked each one to
sign a “Get Well" Card to Gordy
Freemen, and a special prayer was
given by Bro Jack Edwards
Virginia Davis recognized the
November birthday and anniver-
sary people. The Fidelis Sunday
School Class honored Minnie Wright
as the day was her birthday The
“Happy Birthday" song was sung to
the honored people.
Virginia announced the Singing at
Old Palestine Church and the
Revival at the Methodist Church
She asked all to sign who wanted to
go to see the "Singing Christmas
Tree" at Second Baptist Church in
Houston on December 11th. Then
she told of the planned Christian
Cruise for five days next April
Bro Bill read a poem, "If l Do Not
Have Love,” then he made in-
teresting and appropriate remarks
on "Love" after reaching a Scrip-
ture on love. He gave the prayer of
Thanks before the covered dish din
ner.
After dinner Hubert expressed
appreciation to Chet Haynes for
returning to Super Seniors. Cliet is
from Webb Chapel Baptist Church in
Dallas He read the following
poems: “How To Know You Are
Getting Old," "I’m Fine," "My Get
Up and Go," "Somebody Else." and
"David and Goliath, A D "
He then gave a talk to encourage
older people by stating, "God can
use any of us and God has A Plan for
each one of us " He closed the
program bv singing. People Need
the Lord." and "It Is Well With My
Soul "
Hulx'rt expressed appreciation to
Chet for the program and Bro Hill
led the closing song. "We re Having
the Time Of Our Lives "
The visitors included niu. Jack
and Inez’s great grandson, Ryan
Richie and Bro. Bill’s and Jo s gran-
ddaughter, Hannah Morgan and
Jack Kelley of Douglass The Super
Seniors were glad to have the
following visitors from the Carriage
Park Nursing Home: Cynthia
Carroll, Minnie Smith and Kelly
Ray.

meeting week, sc I found someone
who is a part of this good city council
mentioned in the Alto Herald. Nov
2,1939 ..“Alto Thursday Study
Club”. The A T.S.C. were guests in
the home of Mrs Albert Holcomb
Mrs. J. C. Erwin gave a most in-
spiring and detailed discussion on
the life and early works of the poet,
Robert Frost Mrs Holcomb was
assisted with refreshments by her
daughter, Albertine Hoicomb and
her little son, Bobbie Holcomb
(Yes, you do recognize the name, lit-
tle Bobbie is one of our present city
Council persons.)

It announced that Rev. Cyril
McGilvray was to preach at the
Methodist Church, Saturday night,
November 4 H939i. Further, it was

Tom Wainwright. celebrated their
10th anniversary as leaders of our
church, Calvary Tabernacle United
Pentecostal Church, Alto, this past
weekend The Wainwright Family-
moved to Alto, November 7. 1977
The Wainwright children, now
grown, were little tots then, but most
of you know Teresa as Teresa Grin
die Teresa is the wife of John Grin
die Jr She graduated valedictorian
of AHS class of ’84 Soma also
graduated from Alto High in 86
Chris is a junior at Alto High School
this year
When they moved here. Teresa
was 12 years old, Sonia. 9 years old.

enjoyed this wonderful couple and
