CONFIDENCE VALUABLE
IN EVERY phase of life confi-

is so in bridge, particularly the
ability to have confidence In your
partner It enables you to make
bids and plays which you would
not consider otherwise, counting
on him to hold the cards indicat-
ed by the bids, plays or signals he
has already furnished. Such con-
fidence may be still more valuable

At most tables this duplicate
deal furnished a plus score for
North-South because the East-

score for North-South was made
by one pair of expert cardamen

with ijiachine-gun rapidity it runs
the gamut from law and order
administered in the courtrooms
through underworld plottings, the
framing of respectable citizens

of a state prison.

from actual interiors typical of a

other prison departments.
Pidgeon plays the role of Steve
Donegan, fighting district attor-

felons to state prison. He is
eventually framed by Silenus, the
vice lord, and is also sent to pri-
son. There, while detailed as a
plumber, (he meets Anne Barry
another prisoner framed by Si-
