In this fast moving time and
age, only one thing appears
certain ~t the moment . . . and
that is, if the social slack
doesn’t pick up and quickly pro
dues some parties, Seen and
Heard will soon be out of bus-
iness! (Or is that bad) At any
rate cats and kittens, please
take heed and remedy the situ-
ation, immediately if not soon-
er.
Friday, Saturday, and Sun-
day we dragged our reluctant
bodies to services for the first
time since our Bar Mitzvah
days. The occasion was of
course, Rosh Hashanah, and
believe it or not, there were
more people present than at an
AZA 136 dance! It turned out
to be much better than we had
anticipated, the services were
beautiful, our seared soul was
cleansed of sin, it didn’t cost a
penny, and the scenery was de-
lightful. Speaking of scenery,
just like a party, there were
lovelies Betty Ann Landau. Ed-
ith Pravada. Marlene Roth.
Sheila HamoviL Lois Lefkowilx
Bailey Ginsberg, Ruth Wiesen- .
thaL Etta (Bubbles) Colish, (Hi
Bub), Marcia Sadoff, Gloria
Feder, and Sara Lee Goldberg,
looking lovelier than ever. And
in the balcony, evidently dis-
cussing a very fascinating ser-
mon were Bette Solomon, An-
nette Colish, Mallory Ginsberg,
Jackie Helfman and Harvey
Lewis. In from college land
were Jack Rich. Bernard Sch-
wartzberg, Freddie Kessler.
Norman Black and Dickie Bar-
exin from T. U.; Paul Croft.
Alvin Eisenberg, Fussy Kal-
mans. Archie Leder, and Earl
Levine, from Aggieland; Ron-
nie Weiss. Marvin Baron, Ed-
die Nuisheum. and George Mi-
ron. from Rice. Bud Swiss.
Harry Wishnow, Irving Wish-
now, Seymour Chassis, and to
end it all, Martin Silverman, all
Cougars from the U. ofH. As
our gaze wandered around the
building, all the while paying
close attention to the services
of course, we noticed the semi-
Sugar twins, Bernard and side-
kick Seymour in front of us;
a choir consisting of Allan
Marcus, Marvin Kaplan. Sam-
my Schiller, Norma Tolman,
Dee Lewis, and choir master
handsome Jade LubeL to men-
tion a few, below us; and plain
oT good lookin’ ushers Leon
Bornstein. J. A. Gaber, Leon
Weiner. Herschel Malts, Mal-
ays Malta, and Sammy Mel-
nick to the right of us; Annette
Kantor. who found a ring and
Mona Rae Robinowiix who lost
one, slight coincidence, to the
left of us; and of all things, a
bride wall to the back of us.
(One we knew personally of
course) GADS! Scads of gads,
what a trapped feeling!
Among the aged and an-
cient. in f-ct almost to the age
where they ere too old to do
anything but pay attention to
the services, were Her-i^n end
Doris Nathan, (husband rnd
beautiful wife, incident lly),
Harry Halpin. Louie Solo''.on,
Kerry Grsnader (of c:t f'.me),
Buddy Melamed, and Sol Rose-
Also, being in a Rosh Hasha-
nic mood, we would like to men
tion that all the Yiddish words
you find in this column from
time to time, I owe to Mr. A.
Greenfield, who devoted his
life to teaching me Hebrew for
two years, before I was dis-
honorably discharged. He too,
incidentally, was at services,
‘cause we remember seeing ser-
vice-goers Moise Axelrod. May-
And finally in conclusion, or
rather I should say in confus-
ion, we just want to say to you
whose names were omitted this
issue, that it is impossible to
be everywhere at once. And
furthermore, tho it may take
time, everyone will sooner or
later be assured of getting their
respective name slandered, mis-
spelled, linked with the wrong
person, or just plain dragged
thru the traditional mud, In
this blessed column! I thank
you!
