Mrs. Sol Leff entertained with
a luncheon last Saturday at the
Mexican Tavern honoring Misses
Sybil Oshman, Blossom Leff and
Irene Byron, graduates of San
Jacinto High School. The table
was centered with a large bowl
of spring flowers, and each place
was marked by a small Mexican
figure. Covers were laid for
twenty-six.

The Empire Room gave the set-
ting Tuesday for a luncheon of
exquisite appointment when
Misses Rae and Mollie Cacir en-
tertained in honor of their sister,
Miss Anne Cacir, whose mar-
riage to Edwin Lichtenstein will
take place June 11. An all-white
arrangement of daisies, larkspur,
stock and sweet peas in a low
white pottery bowl graced' the
luncheon board, laid with covers
for 12. The honoree’s place was
marked with a corsage and a gift 4
of a bride’s book. A corsage in
shades of gold and brown, and
a gift, also marked the cover laid
for Miss Geraldine Rosenthal,
San Jacinto senior graduate.
Miss Elaine Byron is honoring
her sister, Irene Byron, a gradu-
ate of San Jacinto High, with a
tea on Saturday afternoon, May
13, during the honors from 4 to 7,
at their home, when approxi-
mately 225 members of the gradu-
ating class and friends are ex-
pected to call.

The T. O. B. Sorority plans on
having a gala summer season,
dominated by an extensive pro-
gram of sports activities, dancing
and picnicing.
Last Thursday night, the sum-
mer home of Mrs. Bachar at
Clifton-by-the-Sea furnished the
setting for their annual picnic.
Guests convened at the home of
Miss Dorothy Meyers before pro-
ceeding to the bay. Misses Edith
Rosen, Ethel Lynn Seligman and
Anna Ray Hanovich served on
the entertainment committee.
The personnel included thirty
guests.
TOMBSTONE UNVEILING
The tombstone unveiling in
memory of the late Bernard Past-
ernack will be held Sunday morn-
ing, May 14, at 11 a. m. (instead
of 2 p. m. as previously announc-
ed) at Adath Israel Cemetery, on
the Airline-Dallas highway.
Relatives and friends are re-
quested to note the change of

Temple League members of
Temple Emanuel held a picnic
near the Country Club on the
Neches River banks Monday
evening, May 8. Members met at
the Temple, and then proceeded
to the picnic grounds. Boating
and games provided entertain-
ment.

Miss Celia Speer was elected
President of the Mogen Dovid
Club, a newly organised
of young girls and boys,
meeting held last week.
Florence Eisen was elected secre-
tary-treasurer, and Audrey Levy,
program chairman. The club is
organized for social and benevol-
ent purposes, and has a charter
membership of ten. Murray
Hotter was host at a meeting on
Tuesday evening.

Mrs. David Sobel was hostess to
the Hadassah Oneg Shebat, at her
home last Saturday, when Mrs. J.
L. Sisen gave a sketch on the
life of Emma Lazarus, an Ameri-
can Jewess whose two-verse poem
is engraved beneath the Statute of
Liberty.
Mrs. Joe Plettman gave a de-
scription of the World’s Fair
with particular reference to the
Palestinian Pavilion. A group of
Young Judaeans directed by
Rabbi Schectman, gave some Pal-
estinian songs.

At a recent meeting of Ha-
dassah, held at the Hotel Beau-
mont, the following officers were
elected:
President, Mrs. J. Plettman; 1st
vice-president, Mrs. Ralph Levy;
2nd vice-president, Mrs. M. L.
Jacobs; secretary, Mrs. A. Reich-
stein; and treasurer. Mrs. Sam
Beck.
Reports were given on the linen
shower recently sponsored by
Hadassah for hospitals in Pales-
tine, and plans were made for a
rummage sale to be held in the
near future.

The Beaumont Y. M. H. A.
was host to the M. M. Society
of Houston on Sunday, May 7, at
a baseball game. The second and
third teams of Y. M. H. A. played
and the final score was M. M-

JUDAEANS
With decorations of hay and
other barn equipment, the Bam
Dance sponsored by the Beau-
mont Young Judaeans on Sunder,
May 7, was a huge success. The
dance was held at the Hebrew
Institute, with music by the Rev-
elers Orchestra.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Jacobs of Port
Arthur have recently returned
from Hot Springs, Ark., where
they attended the B'nai B'rfth
Grand Lodge Convention.
Mrs. Ben Greenberg entertain-
ed with a dinner at the Coastal
Inn in Sabine Pass last Tuesday
afternoon in honor of Mrs. J.
Fein berg of El Paso.
Beaumont Hadassah joined in
a nation-wide celebration of the
completion of the Rothschild-Ha-
dassah-University Hospital and
Medical School, with a dinner at
the Hotel Beaumont on Tuesday,
May 9, with Mrs. Ralph Levy
presiding. Dr. S. V. Eisenstadt
of Berlin, Germany, and Dr. Har-
ris Hosen of Pt. Arthur were M
principal speakers. Guests m
honor included Rabbi and Mrs.
Alexander Kline of Port Arthur,
Rabbi and Mrs. Harry Z. Schecht,-
man; Dr. Phillip B. Greenberg,
and Dr. Sigmund B. Herman.
Dr. Sigmund B. Blum acted as
toastmaster, and Mesdames Mose
Sampson and M. L. Jacobs were
in charge of arrangements.
BAR MITE YAH
Mr. and Mrs. A. Abramson an-
nounce the Bar Mitzvah of their
son, Norman, will be observed
at Temple Beth El on Saturday
morning, May 13. A special Bar
Mitzvah service will be held in
conjunction with the regular Fri-
day evening service at 8 p. m.
Following the services, Mr. and
Mrs. Abramson will tender a re-
ception in honor of the Bar
Mitzvah in Montefiore Hall.
Open house will be held at the
Abramson home. 2230 Bellfontaine
on Sunday, May 14, during the
hours from 3 to 6 p. m. Relatives
and friends are invited to call,
and no invitations are being is-
sued except through the press.
George Levin of Los Angeles
Calif., will arrive Sunday by
plane to attend the wedding of
his niece, Miss Bess Levine, and
Dr. Abner Burg, on May 21.

Miss Hortense Levy, whose mar-
riage to Sol Leff takes place May
22, was honored Tuesday at a
luncheon given by Mrs. Harry
Kline and Miss Ax Line Fibush
for members of the family. On
Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Law-
rence Sochat entertained with a
dinner at home, and on Thurs-
day Mrs. George Lipper and Mrs. -
Florence Lipper gave a luncheon
for Miss Levy, including members
of the bridal party and the fam-
ilies in the personnel. Mrs. Rose
Nachlas and Mrs. S. J. Weiss are
entertaining Saturday with a
breakfast at Westwood Country
Club for Miss Levy.

ing Saturday night with a mid-
night supper and theatre party in
honor of Misses Esther Pallet
and Blossom Leff, graduates of
San Jacinto High School. The
personnel will Include thirteen
couples.

Miss Sarah Kaplan, of 1634
Tabor Street, Reagan High School
graduate, was honored with a
surprise lawn party on Sunday.
May 7th. by her sisters-in-law.
Mrs. Sam Kaplan and Mrs. Mor-
ris Kaplan.
The law:i was beautifully de-
corated with flowers. A lovely
sweet table and punch bowl were
set outdoors in pretty surround-
ings. Dinner was served later in
the evening.
There were 50 guests present
Assisting the hostesses were Mrs.
M. Grevsky. Mrs. Ben Kaplan
and Mias Sadye Kaplan.
The highlight of the evening
was the presentation of lovely
gifts to the honoree by the host-
esses and guests.
