BLOTTER
Report: Father accidentally
strikes son with car
Denton County Sheriff’s Of-
fice spokeswoman Sandi Brack-
een said deputies were dis-
patched at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday to
the 9700 block of Industrial
Road near Justin, where they
found that a 32-year-old father
had accidentally struck his 6-
year-old son with a car.
Brackeen said the father and
son had arrived at a business
and parked, and the father
thought his son had already
gone inside the building. Ac-
cording to a news release issued
by the Sheriff’s Office, when the
father attempted to move the
car, the boy was in front of the
car and was struck by the vehi-
cle.
Officials said the father
dialed 911 immediately. The
boy’s injuries were non-life
threatening, but Brackeen said
the boy was taken by CareFlite
helicopter ambulance to a near-
by hospital as a precaution.
The incident, officials said,
was determined to be an acci-
dent.

AMARILLO (AP) - Alcohol
is suspected as a factor in the
deaths of five members of a pop-
ular summer musical produc-
tion who were killed in an auto
accident in the Texas Panhandle,
an official said Tuesday.
Texas Department of Public
Safety spokesman Christopher
Ray said members of the cast of
Texas — a musical performed
every year at the Palo Duro Can-
yon State Park south of Amarillo
— were returning from an end-
of-the-year party Monday night
when the accident occurred.
Four of the dead were danc-
ers while the fifth worked in the
box office, according to Texas
Panhandle Heritage Founda-
tion Executive Director Kris
Miller. Members of the produc-
tion spent the night at the foun-
dation’s offices in Canyon, com-
forting each other and awaiting
any further details on accident,
Miller said.
Tuesday night’s performance
has been canceled.
Their vehicle was attempting
incident.
The man was charged with
assault causing bodily injury
family violence, police said.
600 block of Audra Lane
—An altercation between aboy-
ffiend and girlfriend resulted in
a tom shirt, bite marks and
scratches, police said.
After midnight Monday, re-
ports stated that the two 27-
year-olds were fighting, and
when officers arrived, they ob-
served the boyfriend was bleed-
ing from multiple scratches to
both sides of his neck and had a
bite mark on his right shoulder.
His shirt, police said, was also
tom.
The boyfriend told police
that when they began to fight, he
said he was going to leave, mak-
ing his girlfriend more upset.
This, he said, caused her to
scratch and bite him. Police said
the girlfriend did not have any
injuries, and was charged with
aggravated assault family vio-
lence.
