Age slowed down Mrs. Hart
man, who lives in a nursing
home, only in the past few
years, says her daughter, Mrs
J.E. Inge.
"She stayed very active until
she was 91. She did cooking and
housework. She even rode the
train alone to California when
she was 90," Mrs. Inge said.
Two years ago, when she was
98, Mrs. Hartman underwent a
leg amputation because of dia-
betes
family was very worried.
"We all gathered to watch
her die," said Mrs. Inge. "She
did fine, ttough- The doctor
said she came through it like a
21-year-old woman'
Now Mrs. Hartman spends
most of her time in a room at a
nursing home here. Her eye-
