Rood PWUpptane 1:1-11
J have given you an eaample,
that ye should do st l.have done
to you. (John IS IS.)1
Jesus was never concerned
about His own position among
men. He could take the lowest,
place as well as the highest. He,
could come Into Jerusalem In,
triumph. With no feeling that It
was Inappropriate, He could
wash the feet of those who
should have been serving Him.
Christ came to give mankind
a better understanding of God
and to direct persons to Him. He
was ready to take any place,
amall or great, to do any work,
menial or otherwise, to lead men
to God.
He was even ready, after only
three years of preaching and
teaching, to allow men to kill
Him as a necessary part of the
task of leading mankind to God.
He commended His disciples to
His Father, and was ready to
leave His cause to their care.
Jesus' aim was not to put Him-
self ln a high place, but to lead
men to give God the highest
place. If we would have the
mind of Christ, we must give
| God the highest place In our
lives, and strive to do His will.
I PRAYER: 0 God, our King,
i help us so fully to enter Into the
mind of Christ, that we may for-
| get ourselves, our pride, and our
ambitions. May the petition,
'"Thy kingdom come," represent
the deep desire of our hearts.
| Grant that our lives, our words,
and our aspirations may all be
such that they will point others
i to Thee, as did Christ, in whose
'name we pray. Amen.
