New Worship
Schedule Told
A new Sunday morning
worship schedule effective
this Sunday, at First Chris-
tian Church of Mercedes has
been announced by the Rev.
John Jervis, pastor.
The new arrangement has
scheduled Sunday school at
9:45 a.m. and morning wor-
ship at 11 a.m.
Services Set
Worship services are now
scheduled at 10 a.m. Sundays
at a Iglesia Alianza Cris-
tiana Y Misinoera, 844 South
Virginia. Other regular ser-
vices begin at 8 p.m. Sundays
and Wednesdays.
Kindergarteners
Are Invited
El Buen Pastor Methodist
Church, Fourth and Virginia,
kindergarten will begin on
September 5. Registration is
now open. Four- and five-
year-olds will be admitted.

Garcia Assigned
To Fort Hood
Army Pvt. Eddie Garcia,
left Tuesday for Fort Hood
and an assignment with the
502nd Administration Com-
pany. He concluded a home
furlough here after serving
a year in Vietnam.
G. Madlock
Rites Friday
Funeral services were
Friday August 25 in Las
Cruces, N.M., for George
Marvin Madlock, 64, who
died at his home August 22.
Mr. Madlock lived in the
Edcouch area until 1944,
when the family moved to
New Mexico.
He is survived by his
wife, May, of Las Cruces;
two sons Thurston Glenn of
Hampton, Va., and Lynn-
dale, of Las Cruces; two
grandsons of Virginia and
granddaughters of Las Cru-
ces.
Relatives attending from
Mercedes were Mrs. Etta
Tarvin, Mrs. Alta Jones,
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones
and Darrell Jones and Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Pemelton.
