The Beta Club members re-
quest that all students having
old mag tines and old costume
jewelry to bring them to school
this week. The club is collect-
ing these items for Mexia State
School. The collection box will
be on the table in the history
room.
Students of EH A enjoyed a
visit from ex-coach Willis this
past week. He and his Cisco
Junior College basketball play-
ers were going to Carthage to
play. Two members of the team,
Danny Robertson and Huey
McLeod, are gradutes of FHS.
Congratulations to Lynda
Speed, who made the all-
tournament team at Buffalo and
to Bonelle Teer, who was high

scorer in both games the Fair-
field girls played.
Irvin Willard was boasting of
his killing a deer over the
week end.
Mrs. Winkler’s English II
classes are working very hard
on Silas Marner. The classes
are building a replica of
Raveloe, the home of Mr.
Marner.
Bookkeeping class is deep in
a practice set. The students
are beginning to realize the im-
portance of accuracy.

Girls Attend
Tournament
The KHS girls attended and
participated in a basketball
tournament in Buffalo, Decem-
ber 7-9. Thursday night the
game ended with a final score
of 38-17 in Fairfiled's favor.
Saturday morning the basket-
ball girls played Leon and were
defeated by a close score of
Gene Knowles, a graduate of 27-2o. Bonelle Teer was high
FHS visited at school Friday.
Gene is in the service and has
been stationed in Japan. After
his furlough he will he doing
sea duty and will be on the
same ship with Jack Robertson
another FHS graduate.

Patricia Anderson
Band President
Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Ander-
son became the proud parents
of a baby daughter, Patricia,
November 13, 1943, in Teague.
Patricia has attended the
Fairfield school for 12 years
and has been active in all
campus activities. She has been
an active member of the FHS
Band for four years and has
served as twirier for two years.
This year as a senior she is
serving as drum major.
As a member of FHA for
four years, Patricia served as
unit I president as chapter
parliamentarian. She served as
secretary her junior year.
Pat was elected princess of
FHS her freshman year. Then
in her junior year, she was
selected as football sweetheart.
She is serving as columnist for
the Eagle Talcs this year and
was on the Eagle Eye staff one
year. Patricia was also a mem-
ber of the FHS choir for two
years.
Pat was a candidate for the
Queen Coronation at the Free-
stone County Fair two years
and was selected as a finalist
one year. She modeled a dress
that she made at the Freestone
County Fair one year.
She is a member of the Ward
Prairie Baptist Church.
Patricia has been a member
of the 4-H Club for two years
and served as a secretary for
one year.
After graduation, Patricia
scorer for both games with 18
points for the Centerville game
and 13 points for the Leon
game.
Lynda Speed was chosen a
member of the all-tournament
team and received a gold mina-
ture basketball. Lynda is a
senior and has lettered 4 years
in basketball.

Miss Hutson Chosen
For Who's Who
Miss Linda Jean Hutson, who
is doing her student teaching
in homemaking in FHS, lias
been notified that she was one
of the students from Sam
Houston State Teachers College
chosen for the Who’s Who
among students in American
Universities and Colleges.
The students recognized by
this organization each year are
nominated from approximately
750 colleges and universities.
Students selected must have a
high academic record, must
participate in and lead in extra-
curricular activities, must have
been a good school citizen and
have been of great service to
the school.
Miss Hutson came to FHS
November 10 to complete her
requirement of nine weeks in
high school teaching. She is a
graduate of Mildred High
School and will receive her
BS Degree from SHSTC in
June. This is the second year
that Miss Hutson has been
chosen for Who’s Who. While
in Fairfield, Miss Hutson is
maxing her home with Mrs.
Ray Vestal. She attends the
First Baptist Church.

Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Ellis.
Mrs. Rayford Moore of Hunts-
ville recently visited Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Howell.
Both Mr. and Mrs. J. L. R.
Whitaker were ill in the Fair-
field hospital. Mr. and Mrs. R.
Q. McSwane are visiting in the
Whitaker home. The Whitakers
are both at home now.
